Kids can't see Nutcraker b/c of the Christmas tree

Ah, you gave me a good :giggle: this morning!

When I heard this on the news I thought parents did not want their kids to go b/c of the men wearing tights . The reporter did not say in the sound bite why kids go not go. I was  b/c it was of the Christmas being there.

If those were my parents, I would beg to never go to school again. I would be absolutely mortified knowing that it was MY parents that caused all of that...it's hard enough being the outcast or misfit, but it's even worse being the outcast with crazy parents...

I had seen the films and even gone several times to watched the "Nutcracker" play (mostly ballet). The Christmas tree were always very large or too big like a giant tree sort of like Redwood tree, I think. It was just a regular play to tell the story about the Nutcracker doll and the dreams that the girl was going through with different characters. The Christmas tree might offend some parents that it has to do with their own religions. It may offend Jewish people but also other religions outside of Jewish tradition. Jewish people don't celebrate Christmas. So that is probably what they are complaining about. If some of the children don't want to go, then they don't have to go. I thought they were given papers to have their parents to sign if they want to go or not. That is the school rule do that for the field trips. That is my opinion.

Both my sisters had Christmas trees , their husbands are not Jewish and my ex husband was not Jewish and we had Christmas trees . If people are offended by the tree they can keep their kids home from school , I would had let my daughter gone if her school went to see the play. I really think it was wrong for a few parents to complaint and try to spoil it for the whole class. The school did the right thing in letting the kids go . I sure would not want my child to be know as the one that kept the whole class from seeing a play.
She would had been bullied for that.

I have never in my life been offended by a menorah...every kid I knew growing up who was Jewish also celebrated Christmas, it's not uncommon...the ONLY problems parents ever had about holiday stuff came from the Jehovah Witnesses and it wasn't the fact that it was "Christmas" theme, but just holiday themed in general but even they just kept their kids home

Yeah , I agree it the Christmas tree offended parents just keep your kids home. My parents celebrated Christmas too and we had a Santa Claus face that hung over the fireplace and it lite up. We left cookies out too and my mom put sprinkle ivory soap flakes on the floor for snow. She did that we when we sleeping . I wish we still had the Santa Claus face , you don't see them made that anymore.
