Obviously he is too sick to serve effectively.

Why do I get the feeling that you would disgree with it if Kennedy is a Republican?

A Republican can do no wrong no matter what. Everything a democrat is wrong no matter what he does according to Kokonut.

Anybody who does not serve to capacity as a public servant or are unable to due to infirmity or diminished capacity should resign and let the governor appoint a new replacement. It's about serving the public. It does nobody any good to have an elected member do nothing. I and do mean anybody, including Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Green Party, whatever.

There will always be a time for anyone to step down due to old age, sickness, etc. If he's too sick, then it's time.

Yeah, I've been thinking that Edwards should step down given his illness for quite a while.

If a representative is not capable of full-time representation of their state, then it's time to resign. MA voters have a right to vote for a new senator and the process of democracy should be respected.

I recognize Ted Kennedy's long career of public service and his desire to see health reform passed, but one vote will probably not make a difference in passing a health reform bill. I think Ted Kennedy should retire and let another senator present new ideas and contributions.

I think this matter does not have anything to do political ideologies.

that's why Kennedy is trying to find a replacement. He was urging a quick replacement under due circumstance because under normal circumstance, this process is very lengthy and his health is degrading quickly.

Ailing Kennedy wants replacement law changed

will fleeing the scene of an accident and causing an innocent girl to drown be one the qualifications needed on the resume to accurately follow in Kennedy's footsteps?

:P

robert byrd is another fellow. kooky and they still wanted to keep him around as long as possible. He outlived his ability to run effectively as a senator a decade ago.

As a matter of fact, I did criticize a Republican for staying in too long:

AllDeaf.com - View Single Post - Since Bush became President in 2000...

"When our Constitution was drafted, the viewpoint was that our country should be governed by citizens, not career politicians. The goal was to elect good citizens to serve their country for one or two terms, then they would step aside for other good citizens to take their turns. No one expected people to spend their entire lives raising campaign funds, making campaign speeches, and staying in office until they had to be propped up (a la Strom Thurmond.)"

You mean, he forgot to resign before he died? What a typical Liberal thing to do. :giggle:

I think she was referring to the OP, not you.
