Its just so funny how people percieve withdrawing the troops. Basically either way, people are going to be pissed off.

1) withdraw all the troops hastily at once, iraq collapses and a civil war breaks out--epic
fail. Really makes it look like a total waste of time, and money why we are doing what
we're doing there. Nevermind the fact that based on faulty decisions and assumptions
Bush did what he did. Might as well fix what he started--and finish it correctly. Last
thing we need is a country in the best strategical location in the middle east become
an uncontrolable unsupervised hotbed of muslim radicals/extremists.

2) withdraw a few thousand at a time and see America bitch and complain even a democrat is
following the Bush doctrine by extending the war even though its the right thing to do to make
sure Iraq as a country can correctly stand on its own 2 feet and function well at full strength.

We're *never* going to win the "war on terrorism," so why prolong the Iraq war longer than we have to? Iraq is never going to accept democracy as a way of life -- believing that they are is only a fallacy.

If Bush wants us to "finish what we started," then we have absolutely NO hope of ending the war in Iraq.

It's time for our troops to come home.

If Iraq can't stand on its own 2 feet, then that's *their* problem -- not ours.

Well, I hope they will be considerate enough to repay for everything they have owed us.

Bush should have never invaded to begin with, but since he did what he did you cant leave a country that is in shambles and completely unreliable to police themselves. They HAVE made progress... the violence is waaaay down and things are starting to be recover and take shape, but clearly-- its not ready.

You cant ignore it, Iraq is in a key strategical position in the middle east and has a wealth that is bound to recover quickly due to the oil economy that presents itself. To have structure and resiliency to not play the puppet for iran or al-queda, id say thats pretty important knowing all they want is to destory us and everything we stand for, despite being on the other side of the world. Obama knows this too. Immediate 100% withdrawal is immediate fail, and everything we invested over the last 5 or so years will be for nothing. It may not work anyway, because what you say is true, terrorism and angry muslims will always exist--always, but you have to try at least.

Wheres all the heat now? Afghanistan. What does that tell you? Progress HAS been made on that front (iraq) and the focus has shifted in a way towards its original goal--finding and crushing bin laden, the taliban, and al-queda.

i think al qaeda has become considerably stronger since we invaded iraq. while it's true that the surge has helped to some extent, it hasn't had significant results. there's no sense continuing to fight a war that we'll never win especially when our resources ($12 billion/month) could be better spent on domestic issues.

well eventually-- we will leave iraq, just not tmw and not all at once. And of course i'm all for that. But you just can't be naive and assume we should just all come home and think things will be fine and nobody wont do a goddamn thing.

actually, i *do* want all of our troops to come home. and no, i'm not dumb enough to think that things will improve for iraq if we withdraw, but if the iraqi's don't want democracy, there's really nothing we can do about it. if truth be told, i don't give a d*mn about them. it's about time we start thinking about our country's needs for a change.

Who know if it's good or bad news after withdraw. I hope there is nothing happen.

I agree. This has gone on long enough already. It's time.

Yep. We have to take care of ourselves first before we can take care of others.

It's one thing that a country recovers and rebuilds, and theres another thing--rebuiding/recovering correctly. I think thats what you fail to really understand.

Personally i love my country enough to care and worry if theres a international threat based on the fact that this "threat" IS capable of creating maximum destruction whether its here or somewhere else. I dont think i want to see Israel attacked/nuked, and World War III started because we failed over there. If people were able to organize under a faulty weary young government to carry something of that nature out, we're gonna look back and relize we were a bunch of fucking idiots. Nor do i want another 9/11 and we find out they came from a war-torn Iraq. "Ooops" wouldn't be a forgiveable excuse, sorry but i dont buy it.

We have to get the country going over there from gov't, through the military, through the police system, jumpstarting their economy, and watching it flow like a newly oiled machine ready to function at its peak at 100%. Well enough to where we can be assured at least that we can quit babysitting 24/7. Yes our own country has issues to deal with but theres nothing really challenging on the war in the middle east. Its all set in motion. So basically anyone who complains "bring the troops home now" as far as im concerned needs to be forcefed a giant cock pacifier and really try to see the big picture.

Ive said all i can say. You disagree, then thats your biz, and thats fine. But just think about it.

The "giant cock pacifier" is so big the room is dark.
Someone once told me that if you cannot explain something in a logical way, you do not know what the hell you are talking about.

if we end up having wwIII or another 9/11, then george w. bush is entirely to blame. after all, if it were not for him invading iraq, al qaeda wouldn't have gained as much strength and power as they have.

iraq knows better than to initiate wwIII because they know we will completely annialate them if they do, plain and simple.

i'm not at all concerned about wwIII. what i *am* concerned about though is bringing our troops home and leaving iraq to fight their own battles. after all, iraqi citizens have proven time and time again that we are *not* welcome in their country.

democracy and iraq are words that do not belong in the same sentence.

george w. bush got us into this mess and it's a mess that we will *never* get ourselves out of, no matter how much we want to believe otherwise.
