Have any of the females here have IUD or had any experiences with it in the past? I am considering that method after I have my daughter. Having my tubes tied and having Jeremy fixed is wayyy too soon for us right now. I don't want to get pregnant for 5 years and we may not want to have anymore kids after done with the IUD. I want to make the final decision on the tubes tied after 5 years. We have so many goals and plans that we want to do for a couple of years and not to worry about getting pregnant again. We are perfectly happy with Nathan and Miranda (due 9/16/05) right now.

Thanks!!!

i want to give you a big advise that dont use a icu! there are destroyed in your stomach and it is not good at all ...
i want to tell you about my oldest daughter....
my daughter was sick and wanted to go to family doctor... she decided that she dont want me go with her into the room ... so i let her go and she is big girl now ... and when my daughter and doctor are done and i taked her go to store to get some pills ....
In about one months later, i cant hold the peeee and i ran and pound the bathroom door and told my daughter that i need a bathroomm and she said go ahead and she was in shower and i sat a tolit... i saw the smoking patch on my daughter s butt... i insulted on her that she is smoking and try to quit the smoking... she was laughed so hard and i was puzzled and why she laughed at me ??? so she went to her bedroom and changed her clothess and she bring a boxes of birth control patch.... and showed me about a birth control patch... i was total shocked thats what birth control patch look like and thats weird and very thin patch... so i asked her how she get a birth control? she explained to me and i said oh i seeee.... so she and i sat down and tallked together about sex things.....
i told her " the best way, she still wear a birth control patch and condoms too" and she accepted my own words and she felt big agree with me about same time birth control and condoms.... but she dont like to have a sex right now but now the day time, she feel more safe to using a birth control and condom.... she was surprised that i am not mad at her ... she told a few friends of her thatss my mom is the best mother ever she had.... i felt good what she told a few friends about me.... now a friends of her asked me about sex things. and i felt good when i feel like and want to explained with her friends...
i dont beleive that when i yelled at two girls and it is not good and make them confused... the best way i have to open mind and felt sharing our lifes and keep our minds opens .....

Yeah, I heard about this and agree that IUD is not recommend.

Haha. I do have the same reaction from everybody like yours, kristy. Everybdoy was like, "I DIDN'T KNOW YOU SMOKED!" I was like, "no it is not the nictione patch." then their next question that they probably regretted asking: "What is it for then?" I usually replied, "so I don't have any accidents when I sleep with my husband." My mother-in-law (before we got 'married') and uncle-in-law were making fun of my so-called smoking patch then i told my then boyfriend (now husband) to bail me out so they can leave me alone but he refused so I just blurted it out one day when everybody was in the living room: "MAMA! Leave me alone! It is for me to hold off the grandbabies for you a couple more years so we can finish our degrees first! I am sparing you the realization that you both are OFFICIALLY OLD!" They just shutted up because they weren't ready to know (accept, more like it!) about us having sex and then laughed about their seniority.

A couple days later, Mama did inquire me more about it with how it works and etc.. She used to have IUD... she said she loved it.. she had it for seven years. I winched at it because it is so SCARY to have a metal thing up your vagina! She said she never has any problems... but she only had it for 7 years and she didn't have a gall bladder. (she had it removed for a health reasons so... i dont know if it would make a difference.)

If I want a long-term birth control, I will opt Norplant but it was taken off the market.... :-(

"Implant (Norplant and Norplant 2) - This product was taken off the market in July 2002. If you are using the Norplant system, you should contact your health care provider about what your contraceptive options will be after the five year expiration date of your Norplant system. Norplant consists of small stick-like devices, or "rods," that are placed under the skin. The rods release a very low, steady level of a steroid that prevents pregnancy for up to five years. However, the rods can be taken out at any time and you then can become pregnant. This method is 99.9% effective at preventing pregnancy. It does not protect against STDs or HIV. Requires visits with your health care provider to make sure you are not having any problems. "

If you want to find out more methods available, check this out. this is a VERY good souce.

Good luck!

Ahhhhhhhhhh :ty: girls for the warning! I was planning to get that after I have 2nd kid in future. But now you made me to change my mind! I'll talk to my OB/GYN about IUD and BC to be real sure.

LOL, thats funny kristy and gnarlydorkette. I am using the patch now and love it. I started out with the pill, but sometimes I would go to sleep, then wake up an hour or two later cuz I realized I forgot to take the pill. I hated getting up just to take it. I was to the point that I wanted to quit BC cuz it don't matter anyways cuz I am married and we both have full time jobs. But my husband, mother and sister-in-law all urged me to wait one more year. So I asked my doctor about the patch. I really like it and now I only have to worry about it on Sundays. Also I like that I can delay my period for 6 weeks or 9 weeks if I want to. Hope this helps.

My sister has Norplant, and I rub her arm and can feel a stick inside her upper arm, 5 years up, she will ask Dr to take it out EEWWW

and it STAYS ON??? without falling off??? :Ohno: the dr recommended that to me... but i was hestitate in accepting it.. i was on the depo for years until i had problems with inflammation in the hips... so i stopped it... and wasnt on anything for a while.. but then my period was irregular (fooked up) due to the depo (cuz i didn't get my period for 10 years.. WOW.. DIDN'T I LOVE IT!!! BOY I MISS NOT GETTING MY PERIOD!!! :( ) so i had to go on the pill :ugh: what a ROYAL PITA!!!

the dr said i can go back on the depo.. but i am skeptical cuz of the inflammation in the hips.. (sigh) so i am curious about the patch...
can you tell me about your experience.. how long have you been on them??? in order to convince me that IT IS SAFE? :D cuz i am not ready to be a mommy yet!

i know.. i get SO GROSSED OUT!!! :barf:

I have heard of the metal inside your body. I learned that these metals contain small amount of radioactive. It is not a joke. I would not recommend you to get them. If your doctor says, "Oh that's nothing. It is a small dose that couldn't hurt you at all." My friend told me that the doctor advised not to hold a baby on your stomach because of the radioactive. I'm surprised about that.
The doctor forget one thing that he/she does not have them in his/her body. :ugh:

I think that a better option is for you to have your tubes tied. If you are married, why not ask your husband to do the same thing.

If you have a scar, maybe a laser treatment could solve your problem. I think that an outside hospital service is a little bit cheaper than getting one at a hospital. Perhaps, better privacy...

Well if your patch falls off, you can put a new one on and call in a "replacement" to make up for it. I have been on the patch for... a year now and I love it. It is more safe compared to the pill because you are guaranteed to not get pregnat just because you forgot to take the pill one day. THe patch will stay on no matter what. It only depends on WATER and where you place it... you can swim in it but if you blast water directly onto the patch e.g. in shower, it will probably make it fall off but only in rare. It only happened to me twice in a year so far.

You just stick your patch on a certain day then just forget about it only until next week (for example-- you stuck it on Tuesday, next tuesday you gotta replace it). You cannot put it in the same spot.. but you got 8 spots to place it on (buttocks, arms, back, and torso). ON the fourth week, you don't patch yourself to allow your period to occur. Then you start a new "cycle" by patching on Tuesday-- even if you are still in your period. The patch will cut it off. :applause: YAY!

I have three friends who are on the patch and they are not preggy! ;-)

:Ohno: i am still not convinced!!!
you start the patch on a tuesday?? i thought u always start any kind of B.C on a sunday of your last period??? no matter what?? that is what i was always taught?? starting the patch on a tues is ALL NEW TO ME...

AND you said 8 spots to place it ... (buttocks, arms, back and torso) but that is 4 spots so i am not clear on that? mind clarifying that for me?

and do they give you enough patch for the month?? i mean like for the pill they give you like 28 pills for the cycle... ya know... so what about the patch.. how does it work?.. how many do you get each month? since you say if it falls off you simply get another one to put on.. what if a few fall off then what?? does that mean you won't have enough for the month or what?

This is what can happen to a fetus if you use a IUD... :(

IUD is not recommend. It's not safe and I've heard horror stories about doctors not taking it out if the patient request it.

Try condoms, BC pills or other form..

ORTHO EVRA patch??

What about ORTHO EVRA Patch? I've seen that on commercials often. Is it safe? I've been wondering about it. Depo shots does not work on me. I've been on it only twice and I guess my body don't agreed with it. I heard that Depo shots are not good.

Is anyone on it? Feed back would be great so that I can think about which BC I would take after I have 2nd baby in the future. I like the idea about changing only once a week and not forget the pill to take daily. And I'll dicuss this with my doctor in near future but I am not on any BC right now.

I cannot tell you guys how much I LOATHE BC!!! :fu2: I gained whopping 60 pounds after being advised to go on BC over Christmas period. I went off in February because I could not handle weight gain but my symptoms came back so I was forced back on BC in March and I see my weight is slipping up :(

BC is not only good for pregnancy prevention but also for premenstrual dsyorphic disorder which I am dealing with. Being on BC really helps with my hormone fluctations but I just hate hate hate hate the weight gain part :( But BC has saved my life literally in terms of sanity.

PS IUD is not that bad but it has greater physical risks such as scarring the tissue, etc. It has caused some women to become infertile, etc. I wouldnt recommend it either like most of other posters.

I almost got IUD and doctor said it wasnt' safe at all, it was like 50-50%... so I would get on birth control pills or use a condom ALL the time..... Just to be safe
