It's Not the Wealthy, Stupid! It's a Full Blown Depression

I would prefer everyone pay same percentages, as I stated previously. We can dicker about where it all goes, but the fact remains; we need taxes to drive the big bus.

charity programs can drive the big bus more efficiently and easier. why? much less red tapes. much less bureaucracy.

NYC is one of the wealthiest cities in USA, raking in hundreds of billions dollars... and yet it can't even cough up some bucks for NYC's schools??? For heaven sake's, many of schools could not afford to fix its leaking ceiling, cracked walls, buy new textbooks, increase salary for teachers, etc. It's sad.

Recently, Bill Gates donated over $51,000,000 and that fixed a lot of problems and he's still donating much more money to schools. He's donating tons to Philadelphia and DC schools too while politicians are still meddling with each other over budget issue.

so do you still want to tax him more?

forgot to add one more -

and of course... there are other rich people (very few compared to number of hard-working honest rich people) who are not as generous as Bill Gates. They are the one who get taxed $$$$$$$ and they are the one who hide money from IRS and cheated the society at our expenses.

Fact: The cost of investigating and prosecuting them for tax evasion far exceeds the amount they owe to IRS. The worst part? we taxpayers are footing the tab for this :mad2:

Where did I say "tax more" anywhere? I said flat rate. Wealthy pay higher now. I would prefer all pay same.

Another thing to consider; there are charities that contribute under 40% of their received funds towards the actual charity. The rest drives the "charity bus" around the block. Much like the government cheese, some charities are in it strictly for the money.

that's the point. it's still tax more under flat rate.

That was my point above. Wealthy complain about the higher tax bracket, but they find ways around it. Not all, but many. They are generally more interested in gaining wealth, so it behooves them to have knowledge for ways to increase that wealth.
The Fair Tax would remove the loopholes.

**nodding**. When they complain about a higher tax bracket, what they are truly complaining about is the fee they have to pay their tax attorney to find all the loopholes that prevent them from paying their fair share of tax.:P
With the Fair Tax, no one will need a tax attorney.

Bringing in Fair Tax would remove the loopholes but there would be new loopholes and it wouldn't get rid of the real problem in our tax system. Lobbyist.

Exactly. Our economic system guarantees it. Supply and demand is the foundation.
