ITC Hearing Aid Size

Anyone knows about how Phonak determine the size of ITC hearing aid? I got a new ITC and its why bigger than my old one. I put it on top of a flash light and I can see a lot empty space inside. Yet my audiologiest told me that its the best they can do...

I dont like it because I cannot put my snowboard helment on anymore.

Anyone has experieces negotiating size of HA?

ITC - in the canal

These are made, I'm pretty sure, by taking an impression of the inside of your ear canal and are made to fit snuggly. I don't know why you can't wear your helmet with them.

Do you happen to mean BTE - behind the ear? Those do come in various sizes.
 
If you mean bte , you can carve a spot in your helmet to accommodate.

Actually you should be able to for the itc, if it actually sticks out to touch the helmet
 
Thank you @loveblue @bottesini for your responses. Its ITC on paper and they showed me an ITC and told me its about that size. The actually aid is about halfway inbetween ITC and ITE. It filled half of my ear and when I put helment on, the ear pad keep rubbing the aid and it s a pain. It also touches the program swith botton.

My old one is smaller, and I can see there is a lot space inside the aid. Just wondering how I can make them rebuild it and stop telling me it s "the best" they can do w/o even look at my aid..
 
I see you're in Canada, so you might not have as much luck getting what you want. I believe you have a national health plan so they can be restrictive, right?

I would ask them why it isn't the size of an ITC instead of being more like an ITE. Has you hearing changed enough for you to need a more powerful hearing aid?
