Is this true about CIs

You're right, it does mention it, but it doesn't say that a CI child can't play field hockey, just used it as an example. I was looking for where it said a child with a CI could not play field hockey, because that's what the other post said it said.

i love football.. i even played football all my life when i was a kid..

however before i got CI myself. i asked specific questions to my surgeon before i consider myself to go ahead and get a CI surgery..

following questions i remembered by asking...

"i'm a scuba diver and i'm wondering whats the limit depth i can go" they answered 'wow.. i'm surprised you're a scuba diver.. i have to contact cochlear corp to find out this, but i'm sure you can go scuba diving'

turns out a day later he emailed me "you can go scuba diving of up to 82 feet deep" 82 feet is really deep enough! an average diver goes 30-50 feet deep. so its not a problem with me.

and i asked about other sports that is dangerous generally to ur head mostly such as ATV, offroading, hockey, football.

he says " you can play any sports as long u wear protective gears (helmet)" so that means i can play football.

and that's 3 years ago... i'm sure 10 or 15 years ago doctors say "no you can't!" but now they say "you can" cuz tech imporoves through time or research prooves wrong"

havn't gone scuba since.. i really miss it though.. plan to this oct while on cruise but it turns out i cannot make it to cruise.

Go read post #20 although it is poorly written, field hockey is clearly mentioned and in the context of the post it was reasonable to assume that the poster believes a person with a ci cannot play field hockey.

Just pointing out the fact that you can play field hockey with a ci.

Do you have a dry suit for the cold Minny lakes. I imagine they are starting to get cold now since it is almost October....My brother was once attached to the Rice County Sheriff's Rescue squad in a number of lake drownings.

Well, I have never heard a person can't play in sport cuz of C.I. so for FYI,, I can play sport and all I had to do is remove my C.I it like wearing hearing aid and still play softball, material arts classes and go swimming in deep water. So far I have not been affect or any damage to it for almost 3 years. It just part of C.I. wearing like hearing aid can be taken off the ear. It all denpending on what model of C.I. you are wearing or using. I don't have a problem with mine so far.

That's great...it must be either false rumors or the school must be concerned for liability reasons. My friend still hasnt gotten back to me about why the school is changing the football team to a soccer team and if CIs are the real reason or there are other reasons involved?

If I had to make a guess, I'd say that its liability issues. Probably an insurance company refusing to cover CI implanted students because of increased risk, even if it is minimal.

Funny, ci kids are called robots and guinea pigs and their parents are accused of not caring about them, but that evokes no righteous indignation from you or any rebuke of the poster. Guess in your book respect only goes one way.

BTW got back early this morning from my daughter's college and watched her play Field Hockey, a sport that the poster said ci users could not play.

If I had to make a guess, I'd say that its liability issues. Probably an insurance company refusing to cover CI implanted students because of increased risk, even if it is minimal.
