Is share the story from magazines or local newspapers with anyone or to Forum legal?

If you summed up an article from a magazine or newspaper in your own words and posted it here, then it is OK and not necessary to cite the source.
You mean they don't have to tell us the name of the magazine where they heard the story from? If so, I don't agree with that because some magazine are gossip (Stars, National Enquirer) I trust People magazine.

We use our common sense to know which magazines we want to read. I don't read those gossip magazine about stars, etc because I am not interesting but weekly magazine like positive information how to protect our life, healthy, etc., budget, recipes, share their experience stories to help us to protect ourselves, etc., different land to visit, cultural, etc.

Alex mean that we share something what and how we learn those stories/information from with our own word, not copy/paste those article.

I know what Alex meant, I'm not talking about that, I'm talking about a story needs a source, because a story can be either false nor true.

If someone says, "I read a story and it's about...." How do we know if it's true? or it if it's false if no source should be requirement?

Yes I can understand but you don't have to post if you doubt their story. Nobody forces you to beleive us.

You use your judgement either you beleive their story or not. It's your own preference.

Would you demand source or proof if anyone share their story or information what they know from reading something in real life or online?

Example: I don't force you to beleive my story about Gas explosion in Germany because you don't have to. (see thread, I created about Gas explosion). It's up to you either you beleive me or not. If you don't beleive then don't have to post.

Ah Ok, It's not my forum, and so it's not my problem either. Whatever Alex wants that's his forum, I have no comment.

Alex said that if you summarize a story in your own words that it's not necessary to cite the source, as far as following the copyright rules.

However, it's advisable to cite the source in those situations in order to allow the reader to judge the value and credibility of the source. It's an intellectual courtesy. Not a "rule" but a courtesy.

Citing sources also builds up the credibility of the poster, which most people consider a positive thing. It is also helpful to readers who might want to get more details or the full story.

Requesting sources is not disrespectful or punitive if done in a courteous manner.

Then perhaps, in the future, you will not post material that are obviously not "in your own words". Thanks

Perhaps stop the sarcastic at me please. I don't need you to rub in my face. Perhaps you understand now that no source is required by force what alex posted. Peace and thank you.

Thank you!!!

 I must have missed something. I thought everyone always provided sources or links whenever they copied and pasted a statement. Unless that is wrong? I am brain dead right now so bear with me. What I am saying that in the past when I copied and pasted articles or other statements with a link, did I do it wrong? Pls let me know so I wont do it again.

Thanks

Great, you can share your own stories what you know from reading or heard in real life situation. I love to hear your stories what you read from any magazine... :thumb:

No, you did thing right to provide the link from other websites if you want to copy and paste from their websites over here because it's not your idea. It's illegal to copy and paste from other websites over here without provide the source.

This thread is about magazines and newspapers where it doesn't always go to websites automatic. If you want to copy full article what magazines written then you have to ask them for the permission or credit the name of magazines.

If you don't want to copy full article what the magazines written but make your own word what you know from reading or heard then not need to provide the source because you did not copy full article what the magazine written.

When I saw interesting and positive information from magazine then spread those information or stories out to help/warn anyone with my own word, not copy full article like what I shared the story about Gas explosion in next to my hometown in my other thread because I don't have English websites to support my claim. It's your choice if you beleive me or not when I don't have English link to prove my claim. It's your judgement decision to my story or ADer's story.

I hope it helps?

I think too many people are making too big of a deal about a simple request.

Too me, citing sources is practically a habit. It's no big deal.

Have to agree with Alex.. It's like copying a video clip from the DVD and twisting it up for the music at YouTube.com, oh here! I citied what I was talking about! :)

My opinion, just summarize the article, and citie the source with it if we need to know where you got those informations from, or you even can say it was from yourself :)

Good queston, Liebling ;)
