Is photo of baby in flag patriotic or disgraceful?

I was watching a show called 'Rough Cut' and a frame was being made for a fallen solider flag . They had some military men folding an American flag and each fold has a meaning and it said a flag of a fallen solider should never be unfolded b/c that would let the spirit of the fallen solider escape from the flag . This could be why some people feel this a disgrace to the flag.

It is just a picture. The soldier was holding the baby in his flag. I don't think that is offensive. The photographer have different ideas about making different angles of taking pictures. He or she knows about the flags. Anyway, what is the big deal as it is suppose to be a free country? It is like free speech. If the soldier want to express his baby on his flag, then let him be. I think the baby is so cute and I like the art of that picture. Beautiful. :thumb:

Nope, don't find it offensive. I am surprised that such a thing would be offensive to some people. Get a life people!

Politically correct had gotten way out of hand.

What's disrespectful is the college out in California that wants to ban the flag so it "doesn't offend anyone." I think if you don't want to be offended, move to Mexico so you don't have to look at Old Glory....

That picture is beautiful, only a fool would be offended; your cradle is the country that protects you and the service person that defends you...and I agree, the idiots behind the politically correct movement are way out of bounds....

It already vetoed by student leaders.

No, after student leaders vetoed the flag ban so it is all over now.

Also, that's professors' opinions so I won't take class with those professors.

I look at the picture to be that of a man in uniform, holding in his hands what he loves the most: His country and his family. Beautiful picture.

If people find this offensive, then why has nobody complained about USA Olympics participants/winners with the US flag draped on themselves, or even of tanned blonde women in super short shorts and a bikini top with the flag on themselves?

Some people do complain but most don't because they know nothing will be done about the misuse of the American Flag.

Wearing the Flag is totally against the U.S. Flag Code.

Clothing items can have components of the Flag, such as stars, strips, colors, but no Flag is supposed to be used as an item of clothing.

For anyone not familiar with the U.S. Flag Code:

Years ago, I did write a letter of complaint to a running shoe manufacturer about a full-page ad they ran in Runners' World magazine. It looked like a pair of shoes set on a folded American Flag. They wrote back to me that it was actually a Flag design pillow but they agreed the look was deceiving. They didn't run that ad again.

A couple weeks ago, our church had a display of small flags from all over the world representing the countries where we had missionaries serving. Someone thought it looked better to stagger the heights of the rows of flags. TCS quietly explained to the person in charge of the display that it was improper flag etiquette to arrange them that way--they needed to be treated equally. So, the display was changed.

Most reasonable people, if they are approached properly, will respond in a positive manner when they are educated about flags. Posting death threats definitely isn't the right approach.

I was glad to find this in the link you provided because I find a good deal of it beyond common sense and too PC.

"This code is the guide for all handling and display of the Stars and Stripes. It does not impose penalties for misuse of the United States Flag."

I would hope that no one follows the Flag Code out of fear of penalties anyway. Most people would observe the Code simply because they want to show respect for the American Flag.

It's about respect, not political correctness. It's been around since 1923, and is a useful guide. It helps people know how to display the Flag on platforms, on walls, on vehicles, in parades, etc.

I was at the park last summer after July 4th and there were some small flags around a flower bed one of the flag stick was broken and the flag was laying on the ground . It was getting dirty and I was surprise that no one had picked it up . I tried to fix the stick but it was too far gone so I took the flag and put into a planter , the stick was still long enough to hold the flag up and out of the soil . This only took me a few minutes to do so for the life of me I could not understand why no one stopped to do this. Men and women gave their lives so we could have our own flag and no one cared our flag was lying in the dirt .
