Is PENN or Cornell is more likely to let deaf in?

How is it possible that he is getting a BA? Seriously? How?

well - he hasn't so far. I believe it's his 7th year so far

That makes more sense! I was thinking that this guy was about to graduate and was headed for is Masters. I was struck stupid over it!

I need a Hubble Telescope II to see the end

I wonder if it is true that Penn or Cornell is more likely to let deaf who do not have high gpa or SAT or GRE, get in there?

Seriously - Matajan, getting into schools be them "elite schools" or "state universities" is based on your GRADES, academic ACHIEVEMENTS etc. It's ALL ABOUT THE GRADES/GPA etc ... they're "prestigious schools" BECAUSE they only accept the BEST!

Think about it ... if they just started letting anyone in ... would they still be a prestigious school ? no - they'd be no "better" than a community college in the middle of no where.

You're kidding yourself if you think that somehow they're going to go "oh you can't write, your math isn't great , your GP is 3.25 etc ... but OH, you're hoh/deaf ? well - yes, then you can attend!!

Buckle down, get some tutors to help you with your studies etc - especially English, because regardless of what university etc you end up attending - you'll be writing a LOT of papers, and your English has to be impeccable or you'll end up failing all your classes ... I have profs that would take off 5% for each spelling or grammar mistake they found on submitted assignments/papers etc!

I dunno but the John Tracy Clinic would love to have you and they are in Los Angeles.

In all seriousness, does he think that his writing is good enough to get him into Cornell or Harvard? If his posts are an accurate sampling of his skills, he can't possibly have a chance, right?

Well, seeing his writing skills, I would think his parents would have to donate a wing or two to get him into any elite universities.

If my parents had the money, they'd need to do the same for me. My writing skills are fine but I'm afraid my math is as bad as Matajan's English.

is ASL this guys primary language? is it he's typing in ASL like Travis does?

Hi there. Just wanted to say keep working at it. Have you ever seen this poster on the wall? "Even if you don't land on the moon, you'll still be a star."

I am not sure if AD is the best place to ask some of your academic questions. Many AD members are not in school. Go visit an academic counselor. They will be able to help you through the process of applying for more school when the time comes.

As for Penn and Cornell, both of them accept deaf/hoh students that I am sure, but they do require a decent GRE score along with a solid GPA. To fairly answer the question, I do not think either school would accept deaf/hoh student unless they met the same criteria as a hearing student.

Can you tell us what you want to do further studies in? Or what you are interested in? There may be other options than continuing school.

Maybe Matajan is a genius in math...never know.
