Hi all, I just got here in Vancouver, BC last month from Ireland. I'm looking to join the deaf community here. Heard there is a place (metro cafe) in Burnaby?? Any good? is that the only place in Vancouver? none downtown? Looking forward to hear from somebody :)

Welcome to AllDeaf. i never been in Ireland or anywhere but America lol :)

:welcome: to AllDeaf forum. I am from the East of Canada, Ontario. I used to visited Vancouver when I was 28 years old. The Deaf Skiing Club and I went up the mountains to ski for fun. We had a ball. I loved it there. We were from Seattle, Washington, USA (Seattle Central Community College with Deaf program and ASL interpreters). I also went to the Indian reservation later to eat the salmon which they offered to me. They are happy to see me there. Vancouver might have change since I last saw it. Long time now that I am 65 years old.

I hope you enjoy reading and posting all the threads here. See you around here.

Hi,

You're talking about the Deaf Coffee at Metrotown? It's not the only meetup. There's two or three others.

Keep an eye on DeafBC blog as a good starting point. Also, keep a tab on the B.C. Cultural Society for the Deaf on Facebook. They don't really post the events on their walls, but they do send out invites via the private messaging system.
