My name is Paul Robinette and I am a hearing person with some hearing loss in one ear - but that is not why I am here. I am a graduate student at UND doing a thesis on the North Dakota School for the Deaf, and I do NOT have any surveys, questionaires, or other research "ploys" to foster on anyone.
I do have an interest in the deaf communtiy because of my research of the ND School for the Deaf, 1890 to present, and because I have spent a lot of time as a child in speech therapy in school, and two summers at Shady Trails Speech Camp in Michigan. My speech impediment was being born with a cleft palate. I met many other children there with hearing aids, but none that were deaf. I think the children afflicted with stuttering were in the majority at the speech camp.
If anyone has any contributions to make to the history of the North Dakota School for the Deaf (that is verifiable) I would of course be interested. After I defend my thesis for my masters degree the history will be made available to anyone with an interest in it.
Thanks,
Paul Robinette
