International VP Users?

Thats true but you can setup your own dynDNS name or no-ip name. What you need to do is to create your own account with these two providers. Put created account names into your router and have these port forwarded to your Dlink videophone. Make sure your router is capable of using the dynDNS otherwise you will be forced to give your your IP to your contacts or get your ISP to assign you fixed IP for additional cost. I remember name was caughtup.dyndns.org but this is no longer work

It worked like a charm and I did it more than 3 years ago before I move to United States.

Dlink DVC-1000 (PAL version) is what I had used in Australia. NTSC based DVC-1000 are to be avoided as these dont work well with Australian TV.

Good luck

Australian Expat

PAL units can be purchased outside of the United States and will ONLY work with PAL televisions.

D-Link TechSupport - Choose Your Country

I had sent NTSC Dlink videophone out of United States to Ukraine last several years ago. It worked with PAL TV.

No problem

Seems like the DLink can be complicated to use for other with not having static IPs.

Look forward to newer invention technology so we can all use VP easier with each other.

I have ordered my VP which should arrive in few weeks, and I hope it should work. DeafAussie - Where did you get your VP from?

I am just curious if anyone who is international and not from the U.S, like myself have tried to download any computer based VP's (Like Viable Version or any other) and call anyone from the U.S.A directly to their VP's? If not, I must be the only one on Alldeaf.com who have succeed. :thumb:

I've used Sorenson, Viable, LifeLinks, SprintVRS and couple other videochat softwares in Moscow and it works well with VRS or VCO with my laptop's internal webcam. I like Viable the best due to better picture quality.

Yeah, Viable Vision is the best, and I use it all the time. :)

Depending how much fast internet's speed.

Long time, we used to live with Verzion DSL. Last late winter season, we got upgrade to Verizon FIOS. FIOS is fast.... almost 7 or 8 times faster than DSL. SorensonVRS, i711, SnapVRS and some other VP VRS are lot improve and sharp image as diamond.

I noticed that FIOS (download) is faster better than my work has T-1. One thing, T-1 is faster for upload.
