The reason why I come to the AllDeaf forum is because I could not have a Deaf Community on the Manitoulin Island and I don't know anyone in another city over the mainland. I don't have time for travel as I am wasting money if we have to visit outside the mainland except to shop for clothes and other materials things. I do like to do computer writing here so I am also learning from you only not to look down on me every time the hearing say they know a lot more than we do. So that suck. But I am still here but I would not want to go on a debate that would never get the hearing person understand our experiences and keep claiming that CI is the way to go. So I will just go quietly on that heated debate discussion about CI and the very young children who had to put up with hearing parents to make decisions for the child when the child had no say about this matter. I had been deaf for 8 years before I had my first hearing aid which I really don't care for, but my mom and the audiologist want me to wear the hearing aid. So that is advertising, eh??? Also I want to teach hearing people how to respect the Deaf children and adults, including the hard of hearing. Now I have say my piece. :wave:

I thought that you, like me, came here to post hatred of CIs and to advocate for ASL only!:lol: (Sarcasm, people...it is just an accusation that has been made several times. Totally not true!)
 
I came here to open my mind and learn more about ASL and other sign languages and more of Deaf culture, after meeting people at post office, store, etc,. who sign and wishing I knew more, and also after being exposed to it some years back, learning some ASL, going away from it and then returning to it after making some friends who were Deaf. Then, interestingly, I have become hoh. I came because I think language and culture is important, sense of community, heritage and identity important.
 
I came here because I was bored and with no life, and I wanted to make fun of someone, such as PFH and Jiro. I call PFH "baldy, "webby", "lameo", etc.
 
I came to learn more about the deaf community and Deaf Culture. Boy, did I learn and am still learning a lot!!
 
I came here because I am ALL DEAF, which means that there is no hearing left for me.

Well, I haven't really communicated much with people that would probably understand me (HoH, completely oral) better. This is sort of a way to sort understand a bit of my past and who I am in a way.

I'd like to do some more-real world deaf events though like those deaf expos. Sounds like FUN!!!
