(Oct. 21) A Virginia man was busted for indecent exposure after he was caught in the buff. In his own home. Alone.
Eric Williamson, 29, got up at 5:30 a.m. Monday and went to the kitchen to make some coffee. He was naked, but he was alone in the Springfield house, so he didn't think it mattered.

Wrong.

A woman and a 7-year-old boy were cutting through Williamson's front yard from a nearby path, according to WTTG-TV, Channel 5 in Washington.

Through his front window, they saw Williamson having coffee in his birthday suit.

Fairfax County police showed up and arrested him. Williamson said he had no idea anyone could see him, but police said they believed he wanted to be seen by the public, said WTTG, a Fox station.

If convicted, Williamson could face one year in jail and a $2,000 fine. He plans to fight the charge.

"If I stood and seemed comfortable in my kitchen, it's natural. It's my kitchen," he told the station.

Seriously? People should have the right to do whatever they want in the privacy of their own homes. It wasn't even midday. It was 5:30 in the morning.

Yeah, I agree...that was pretty stupid....it wasn't a crime at all to me. It's only 5:30 in the morning come on! What's that woman and a 7 year old kid doing up that early in the morning. :dunno:

And they were walking across his lawn, and they were the ones looking in his window.

And they call California the "nanny state." Hahaha. Hypocrites.

Geez!

I hope the jury found him not guilty by reason of indecent exposure!

Man! What is wrong with that lady? Stupid!

If he wanted privacy in his home, why didn't he keep the curtains at the front of the house closed? Especially if it's dark outside and lit inside; everyone knows that makes the interior more visible.

The mom and son shouldn't have been taking a short cut across the lawn but I wonder if people could have seen him from the public sidewalk in front of his house anyway?

In our neighborhood, lots of people are out at 5:30 a.m.--newspaper deliverers, commuters, kids waiting for school buses (yes, that's outrageous), joggers, dog walkers, etc. Some days I have to leave for work before 6 a.m.

I just now looked at the news video.

The windows at the front of his house are full length, and the flimsy curtains were open. It didn't look very private.

Both people are at fault there. The man should cover the windows. The woman and the kid should STAY off his property...especially at 5:30 in the morning.

here's what the case comes down to - indecent exposure. In order to be charged with indecent exposure under Virginia law -

§ 18.2-387. Indecent exposure

Every person who intentionally makes an obscene display or exposure of his person, or the private parts thereof, in any public place, or in any place where others are present, or procures another to so expose himself, shall be guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor. No person shall be deemed to be in violation of this section for breastfeeding a child in any public place or any place where others are present.

and the police said -
but police said they believed he wanted to be seen by the public, said WTTG, a Fox station.

It all comes down to how the court can prove his intent - just scratching his naked bottom, yawning, and getting his coffee at 5:30am..... or having an intention of being Mr. Nature Man to public as a get-around on indecent exposure since his household is not a public place.

That's weird. If he were a women then no one would report on her. But they made a report on the naked guys.

They should not have been looking in his window and he needs to make sure no one can see him like that for now on.

How do you know that?

have you read any news about women being arrested for exposing her naked body in her own home? I have not seen news about women but guys. i know several girlfriends of mine who are naked walking around in the house. :giggle:
