You mean well but your experiance as a late deafened person who lost his hearing as an elder is different from a late deafened teen boy's experiance...I think its GREAT he wants to learn ASL, and get involved in a community/culture...It's certainly a lot more fun then The Latest Hearing Health 101 approach....I defintly think he might need to be a little more openminded regarding the CI....It COULD be a good option for him if he ever maxes out on aids....(and as a matter of fact even with the debate...the CI is ABSOLUTELY perfect for progressive losses)
 
A more interesting question for Gabe: why start this thread and withdraw when some answers keyed?
