Why do I find people with many IM clients like WLM, AIM, Yahoo and so on...
It doesn't make sense to me. What is their purpose for using them? Just pick up the best that fits your need and go on with it? Some people use it for personal purposes, other use for business purposes. I use AIM myself and it's good enough for me. There's no such thing as perfect IM client.

Facts: I do have yahoo and WLM account because some of my friends dislike AIM or don't have a account. I find it annoying to set up one myself just to chat with them. That makes 3 IM clients. Personal in my opinion, I think AIM is great and easy to use.

It doesn't really bother me to have several different instant messaging clients.

I guess it depends on most people using one client in where they are at.

AIM is widely popular in the United States. Yahoo! Messenger is popular in the United States, Canada, Africa and parts of Asia. MSN/WLM is usually popular in Canada, Europe and Asia. ICQ is popular in Eastern Europe (Russia, Ukraine, etc).

I am not so sure about Google's GTalk, but it seems like it is popular in Western Europe (Finland, Sweden, etc).

In case, you didn't know that you can use either Yahoo! Messenger or MSN/WLM to chat with either Yahoo! and MSN users.

Consider using Digsby, Trillian IM, Pidgin (GAIM) or similar programs to handle your IMs. :)

I understand your point of view, :ty: Brain
Yes, I either use Digsby or Trillian for Windows and Adium for Mac.

I rarely use IM services, either on my cellphone or web-based ebuddy messenger (AIM/GTalk/MSN/Facebook/Myspace/ICQ).

I use Adium (free) for AIM, YIM, MSN, and Gtalk.

BB/iPod Touch for AIM (free) only (good enough to me) Why should I waste my money for IM clients app just for FEW friends who use non-AIM.
