but there was a time when you only wore one, in which ear did you wear this one, and why was the change to two made.? Did you, before you got two, think that two would be better and ask your audiologist about the possibility of this?

I do believe there is a better "balance" with 2. Think of a circle revolving around the head. If it can stop at one ear and provide some amplification, and do so at the other ear, then it balances out sound. I wore 2 hearing aids all my life until one broke about 3 years ago, and I did not have money to replace it. So I got by (barely) with just one for nearly 3 years, and just got a brand new one to replace the broken one. So I now wear 2 again, and the result is added amplification, but sounds come across more balanced. Not just hearing things on one side or the other. I truly notice the difference with things like music and outdoor sounds; I can hear a truck behind me regardless of where it is (versus a truck being behind my left side where I had just the one hearing aid; if it had been on the right side, I would not have heard it at the same distance, I do not believe. The hearing aid microphone positioning does play a big role.)

i'm working on getting two-i just have one in right now, but i'm told that once i get the two that i'll hear WAY better, plus i'll be able to tell "directionality"-right now i can't tell where sounds are coming from...

If you have hearing loss in both hears, and still retain speech comprehension in both ears, it is best to wear hearing aids in both ears. That is what one of my audiologists told me. If you have them in both ears, not only do you have the directionality, but, he says that an ear, in some ways is like a muscle. It needs to be stimulated or it can become weaker. That was not an option for me as my left ear went to severe loss with 0 comprehension at about the same time.

Hello, i'm new here, sorry for my english.

If you have a bilateral deafness you must use two, because
1) for balance
2) wear hearings aids make a training to your brain, if you don't hear from some time,
you brain forgets some sounds, this is a problem for understanding the word.

I hope you understand what i think..

goodbye

I started with one at the age of 5 and by the time I was 10 I had two. When I got two it really helped me hear everything around me not just what was coming out of the left side. I would never ever go back to wearing just one.
