Uh? Why not you create your own?

I believe the deafies are only to give the sign names to their hearing friends. I think it's part of the deaf culture.
BTW, congratulations.....
Because, from my understanding, only a deaf person can issue a sign name. Am I right on that folks?
Also, Doesn't one's name sign remain with that person forever??
Well my personally opinion, it's unnecessary, I've seen some hearing students created their own name sign after they learned the ASL, but if you prefer the deaf people to give you a name sign, that's allright![]()
Sign students picking their own name signs can be also risky. They can end up with some really obscene or embarrassing "names" because they don't know all the name sign rules.Well my personally opinion, it's unnecessary, I've seen some hearing students created their own name sign after they learned the ASL, but if you prefer the deaf people to give you a name sign, that's allright....
Not always. Sometimes adults change their childhood names, or married women modify their maiden name signs. Also, there are cases of one deaf person moving to a new area where a more established member of the deaf community is using the same name sign. The "junior" newbie might want to change to a different name sign to reduce confusion. Also, Doesn't one's name sign remain with that person forever??
