I took a 3 hour nap today after not getting any sleep last night. I don't know why I couldn't sleep but I couldn't. I am not even tired now. It sucks so badly. Any ideas?

Try coming to terms with whatever is on the back of your mind. You are probably stressed or anxious about something?

Dang! Beat me to the punch! Are you sure you're not a therapist?

What if there is nothing on your mind? I had problems sleeping once, which eventually made me sick. I think it is best to see a doctor if you continue to have trouble sleeping.

omegaman is right. i have trouble sleeping due to my bipolar. whenever i'm manic, i can't sleep and have to take a higher dosage of a sleep med (300mg of trazodone). tonight is one of those nights, but this time, it's because i have a bad headache that isn't being helped by my imitrex.

I wish I could help you but I know you won't like my advice.... College student stuffs....

I constantly have that same problem (of course having to get up at 2 am doesn't help either), sometimes I'll drink a warm cup of green tea and take a couple Valerian Root tablets to relax. But sometimes trying to clear my mind of whatever is bothering me helps tremendously also :D

whenever i can't sleep and i'm able to do so, i make a mental image in my mind of 4 squares. inside each square is something i'm worried about or need to do. it could be school, errands, dealing with an important issue, etc. i find that when i'm able to think about these things and acknowledge them, i can then say to myself, "okay hear again. you know what needs to be done tomorrow. now it's time to relax and go to sleep." if i'm feeling level when i do this, it seems to work pretty well.

Thank You everyone for your advises. I slept about 3 hours last night. Grrrr. I don't think I have anything on my mind. I just usually have problems sleeping. I've been on lunesta but I've ran out and don't have money to fill them right now. Maybe one day I can sleep again

chris' mom,

check to see if lunesta offers a free 7 day trial. some drug companies offer this as a way of introducing people to their phamaceutical products.

Perhaps you are one of those who do not require 8 hours sleep a night. Many, many people are that way, and it is a normal thing for them. Try not to judge your sleeping habits by the standards of someone else's.

sadly true. I'm one of them. my sleep requirement is between 4-6 hours. I had a 4-hours sleep last nite and it was as good as 8 hours. I can't really sleep for 8 hours regularly otherwise i feel very groggy and restless.

:dunno:

EDIT - sentence correction. see bold print.

Yeah, 5 is average for me. That means sometimes 3 or sometimes 6, but never more than 6. I think it has to do with a high metablolism. I am just a very active and energetic person all around. I bet you are, too!

yep indeed. a lot of hair falls out too (but not like chemo patient) :laugh2:

LOL, I just said this morning to a friend that as much hair as ends up in the sink every time I brush it, you'd think it would get less bushy! But nope, still thick, curly, and out of control!
