I've been learning ASL for about 8 months now and I've fallen in love with it. I'm even studying to become an interpreter ! I want to make more friends too , I don't know where to start ?
Sign language clubs like one in our university would be a good start for you. We meet up, plan and make voluntary trips together. I don't feel I'm disabled in the club, even there are hearing people there, which is such a nice thing.
I live in New York state, but in an isolated area. It is very hard to find friends, let alone people who know ASL. School clubs are a great way to go if they are available to you. However, I am about to be done with college and if I don't move somewhere new I lose all contact with people who know ASL At least there are places like this where we can make friends.
