Travis is human. He wants to have friends. Have you taken the time out to get to know Travis personally? I have.

Alex has the final say in everything, we all know that. AD is a community here, we all pitch in to help one and other.

It'd be tragic to shun one member based on how one acts/thinks/reacts.

I never claimed to be the authority of moderating. I even stated that Alex was.

as someone who has bipolar, i have EVERY right to question travis' ability to serve as a mod. i KNOW what he's going through and i understand how difficult bipolar can be to control. acting as mod is the LAST THING travis needs.

Only Travis knows what he wants. No bipolar patient is the same.

anyone who encourages travis to be a mod is only making his illness worse and for that, i feel sorry for travis.

Hear Again, Travis does NOT need your sympathy. He really needs your empathy and friendship especially at this time.

god forbid something tragic happen to travis because people on this forum wanted to encourage him instead of asking him to be realistic about his illness.

I am very realistic about Travis and have been helping him. Have you asked Travis what he wanted instead of talking him down like he's a little child? Have you personally had an ASL conversation with him on ooVoo?

I'll leave it at this before it blows up into a big argument because that's not for me.

really? i thought they were. seriously, of course no two people with bipolar are the same. however, stress DOES exacerbate symptoms of bipolar as has been proven time and time again by research. if you spent time reading more about bipolar, perhaps you would know this.

as a fellow person with bipolar, i will give him sympathy if i so desire. like i said, i understand exactly what he is going through and sincerely hope that people on this forum will care enough about travis to tell him the truth about his illness instead of sugarcoating it.

i've communicated with travis longer than you have, so i know what he wants. furthermore, i don't need to communicate with travis in asl via oovoo to understand how he feels. i'm fluent enough in asl that i'm able to have a conversation with him in written english. how egotistical of you to think that you know more about travis than i do simply because i cannot communicate with him via asl on oovoo.

That's right. I don't think it hurts to be realistic. One has to be in order to successfully manage any chronic illness; be it mental or physical in nature. Anybody who encourages someone to not be realistic about their illness is only hurting that person. It's a shame that this has turned ugly , but I stand by my opinion based on what I know about the illness; not just from my own experience, but others as well.

It also ceases to amaze me that such personal things end up becoming a spectacle for others to comment on.

I can only wish Travis well and I do. I just hope he isn't being encouraged to deny how ill he is.
