Hi Travis,

Depression is a hard thing to go through. Hang in there. :)

I am glad to see you back on AD.
I hope the best for you.

Travis, I have been diagnosed with severe depression several years ago, associated with PTSD. Its my understanding that not all meds work as intended for everyone. Perhaps it is best to try different kinds, and see what works for you.

On another note, please stay on AD and keep talking to us as much as you can. We're obviously one big family here and we do love you. We're concerned about you. Keep talking to us.

david has given excellent advice as far as meds are concerned. sometimes it takes several different types of med combos before you find one that will work. i know someone with bipolar II who tried over 20 different meds over the span of 2 years. finally, after a year of using lamictal, her depression and hypomania eased somewhat. hang in there!

Glad to hear that you are still around :) Hopefully you get the help that you need.

Man :(

You really need a hug. Hang in there okay?

has Travis come back yet? I was diagnosed with manic depression in 1994. Its no picnic. I struggled to beat it without taking any medications and did really well. however, with what I'm going thru now, I'm back on the medications for depression and anxiety. It has helped alot. Maybe need to up dose the anxiety meds for me. but Travis, what you're going thru.. you're not alone. David is right, you got to be surrounded by people that loves and care about you. you need a support system. if the meds aren't helping you, you need to go back to the dr and try a different brand. there are several kinds of anti depressant meds and it will suit you eventually. but understand that the anti depressant medicine does not get thru your system for at least 2 weeks. you keep taking it for the 2 weeks and see how you feel. if no change, go back and tell your dr it isn't working.. they will give you a different kind. you just have to hang in there and find the right one.

but importantly, you need to be around your friends and family. do not do this alone. don't be ashamed that you have a depression. people may not always understand what you're going through but its good to talk about how you feel today, tomorrow, the next day.

hey.. also.. another idea... write a journal everynight before you go to sleep. write what you did that day, how you felt and why. it will relieve stress before you sleep.

Be strong.

Travis,

In other words...medication is like trying on different shoes. You keep trying until you find the right fit! Hang in there.

im also depression and im major sezuire since i was 12 years old but i have no problems myself.

years ago im little panic myself for crying lots and i cant firgure out myself what wrong with me but i went to doctor's office and give me different medicine to help stop crying as depression.

Travis, please see your psychiatrist or therapist. Tell them your concerns. And I am surprised they did not put you on an anti-depressant. You sound like you need to be on one. Clonazapam is a good sedative, but it is not an anti-depressant. It's good for anxiety, though, but please be VERY careful and DO NOT overdose. Take only as directed on the medication bottle. Feel free to PM or leave a visitor message on my visitor page anytime.

lucia gave good advice. i'm also surprised that your doctor didn't put you on an anti-depressant given your symptoms. i would talk to your doctor immediately and ask if you could be put on an anti-depressant. sedatives don't do much for depression which is why it's important to get on an anti-depressant instead. you may also send me a pm or a visitor message under my profile anytime you want to talk. by the way, i miss our conversations and hope to hear from you as soon as you feel well enough to contact me.

Travis, if you have a VP, and you want to talk to me on VP, PM me with your VP number, and I can call you, and we can talk. It's up to you.

yup the clonazapam is a good seductive (agreed with loonie disturbed) yeah and its isnt a proper medcation to treat depression howeve maybe yiour doctor has good reason to prescribe this at this point, maybe your anxiety level is a little high at the moment.. but yes you do need to sort out which meds (like missy mentioned) like shoes, see which one fits. but im glad you are ok, just take it easy , relax for a while getting through some shock or profound symptoms of depressions takes a while to ride out and that even with the meds, so you should know that it will be quite a while before you are better and even awhen you get there, you (as does alot of people on antipression meds) dont get off it, so quickly it all depends. Finally make sure that if/when you start to feel better keep in contact with your doctor and DONT try get of it without talking over with your doctor. adding to this make sure they tell you everything, dont hold back your questions and you should be fine. I been there done that and believe me, it all takes time.

Cheers

Lucia and Hear Again have given you very good advise, Travis. Please see your doctor and tell him what you are feeling. Do you have a terp at your doctor's appointments? Communication is very important in your case. Your doctor needs to understand exactly what you are trying to tell him/her.

You can also PM me anytime you want to talk about this.

I am glad to see you posting again. Please keep reaching out and trying to stay connected to the people here.
