I ordered....

I want an eMac. Macs rule. Or maybe an iBook at least, so I could carry it around. Hmm... but all the good ones are way too expensive but eMacs can burn DVDs... oh well one day! :) By the way, those stats of that computer sound cool.

BIF, I don't see the need for a DVD-RW right now on a laptop. I will get one when I build my next desktop. I build my own desktops.

daprilz, I will let you know. So far, if it is like AllisonJoy's (She has a 5100), then I will like it.

I know battery life aint the best. I got it mostly for portability. Something I can use in the car (I have an inverter), or at a hotel, or at work, or at school. You know?

vvti, just imagine what could be next. LOL. Actually, I would LOVE to save up for a nice AV System for my van. Or at least XM Radio.

I've got an old shitty laptop. It's still good for one thing, MS Word & MS Excel. It's only got 1.4 GB of memory so that's all it's good for.

Are you sure memory? I didn't think you can get a configuration like that, especially on a laptop. Either 1.4 GB Hard drive or 1.4 Ghz Processor.

Speaking of laptops...I already had one that is about 2 weeks old...

I had a choice between Sony Vaio or HP Pavilion. HP had the best deal....at a cheaper price.

I've already got it running FreeBSD.

If you're interested in the specifics...

2.66 GHZ
512 MB ram (ordered another 512 MB stick)
80 GB
32 MB shared built in ATI Radeon video card
DVD-RW/CD-RW (came with 10 DVD-RW discs and 50 DVD-R discs)
built in ethernet port, dialup modem, firewire port, 2 2.0 usb ports, 802.11g, s-video, vga port, 1 ps/2 port, floppy drive, and one PCMIA slot. It came with extra battery so I have two.

I also bought a leather case for it.

Awesome. I just couldn't justify the DVD-RW yet. Not on a laptop. Eventually, for my desktop, I will.

I"d rather have the bloody Sidekick so I can converse with my baby sister and Mum whilst on the move around Australia as they are in USA. :) It'd be nice to be in constant contact with them! I do keep in touch with my sister via my mobile gprs services, thank goodness for that! ;)

Yea I didn't plan on to get a dvd writer until next year....'cause the costs of a coaster (bad burnt disc) would cost too much...$5 down the drain. :/

heh...nice to hear that you got it....are you going to format it and reinstall and leave off those junk software or leave it like that?

I formatted mine and used xp pro instead of leaving it with xp home. :p

Mine came with XP Pro. I just uninstalled and cleaned it up. This thing SCREWS!!!!

LOL....

I'm burning a dvd-rw of my backups...I'm curious how long it would take...it did 1.3 gigs in 40 mins...so it got like 3 gigs left.

prostock, hows everything with laptop so far ?
I LOVE IT. It is FAST. Few Complaints...

1) No IR port. Work has an HP LaserJet with an IR on it. I HAVE to hook up to the network to print.

Umm...I think that is it so far. LOL
