are there any similiar as other kind of computer that is good for gaming???

cyberpower and ibuypower are both decent places but make sure you don't cheap out, get the quality components. Read more at Logical Increments - PC Buying Guide in the information section.

(My son typed the message above, not me. He recommends a custom-built PC like the one he has for gaming purpose.)

Yeah, my grandson custom builds them for himself, his brother, and his friends.

Do you have budget limit?

I would go for custom PC.

How old he is?

I built a first computer when I was 14 years old and It was not hard to do it. I recommenced him to build a computer. Once he built it then he may know how to repair it for future. Save money.

Isn't the minimal build requirements listed on back of thesoftware box? Frisky, that would tell you the limits the games can be played smoothly without issues.

"minimal" don't make games running smooth like running smooth inside area but not smooth at outside of area due more framework. Most gamers never trust the minimal requirements listed on the box. Not just one games. You might be surprised if kid would buy more than just one or two and probably B4 or whatever.

I have an Alienware laptop personally. It's a gaming computer and it's amazing. Great graphics, fast frame rate and amazing processor. It is made by Dell. Alienware also makes Desktop PC's as well. A little pricey, but well worth it.

Only rich parents would buy that kind of fancy PC for their kids.

Hey, I don't go assuming anyone's financial situation. I was simply listing a good PC for gaming that I know is excellent... that is all. Alienware isn't the most pricey PC out there, there are far more expensive.

Similarly my point. Frisky is looking for a device that balances playability and costs, so a good reference to start is the recommended requirements on back of the game box. She needs direct assistance, people.

Cons: Windows 8 is mildy annoying, as everyone has mentioned. Do not upgrade to 8.1 if you play on Steam (comes with 8). I did and Steam doesn't run. Still have to figure out a fix

I stick with Windows 7 professional OS. I built my own gaming PC. I bet Frisky's son hate W8 OS, he want W7 OS... hehe

Wow everyone did reply, thank you all. It does help for me to see the many kind of computers. .

Thehighlander, My son is only 10 yrs old he never have his own computer yet. I thought about getting him one so he may learn how to fix it on his own. Let's see if he has more interests by figuring out with it. I will try to tell him, " not to worry if he makes mistake so he will learn from there. "
