I need an opinion.

Which new toy should I get.

As almost everyone knows, I am a hearie. I want to get myself a new toy. There are 2 things that I want. I can't afford both at this present time, but I want a GPS system that hooks up to my laptop and XM Satelite Radio. Here are the arguments:

GPS - I love to travel. I don't know where I am going all the time. With the GPS, I know where I am at all times, and it will show me the best route for getting to places. Cost is about $130.

XM Radio - This, I know is not for most deafies. Only my Hearing and a few of my HoH friends would enjoy this, but since I like to travel, I know I would. For those of you who don't know, XM is the DirecTV of Radio. 100 channels of radio. I can listen to the same channel from coast to coast, and don't need to keep changing channels whenever I lose a station. Depends on where I am, I may be able to listen to a radio station anywhere from 15 mins to 1 hour or so without needing to find another 1. Cost is about $200 and service is about $10/month.

I am thinking GPS, cuz the XM radio that I want is available from WalMart, and my friend works for walmart. I would be able to get it from her at a discount cost. What does everyone else think.
 
matty boy i voted for the gps reason????? cuz since ur a traveler like i am its always a time saver for u whilist the xm radio is like a pleasure for something that can be settled for a tape or CD player when ur out of range, thats my opioion, Also i just think also u also may need to be at a certain place at a certain time and unsure if ur going on the right road this would help u in all aspect so why don't u go on and get the GPS and save ur neck as well. :)
 
I would get a GPS system, but surely there are cheaper ones out there. Just last week, in Target, I saw some GPS for like 99$. Maybe you need to do a little more shopping around to find the best prices before pocketing over that amount of money. Never know, you might be able to afford both after all.
 
Did you mean you want the gps hook-up to the laptop? Doesn't that require a monthly service fee as well as having a XM Satelite Radio?

I voted radio because you would use it more often than GPS, and, like Kootchie says, there are some GPS cheaper than the one you want on the laptop..
 
Cheaper toy first, then the expensive and monthly paid toy next IMO. You can always get the radio later. I warrant that you can get the radio in a few months or something. :fingersx:

Yes, I want one that hooks up to my laptop. I have found 2 of them that hook up using the USB port. Both are $130 each. They both include a street map program, and it shows numerous information on your laptop. I did check epinions.com on both of them. One, has more recommendations and a higher rating than the other.

Maybe you can try GPS at first to see if you like it or not. Good luck on your choices of your new toys. I hope I can able to get a laptop next year.

I chose GPS because I find that a lot more handier -- I know you're a hearing person and like to listen to music and so forth on the radio while on the road. My husband's like that, too. He likes listening to music whilst he's driving.

GPs because it'll be very helpful in finding your way around on your travels. :)
 
:lol: that's good one but I never heard of those toys cuz i'm always out of the house but at least I'm still alive on this forums but I'll be checkin forums at nights now since I'm always out during the day time so gotta go be good boy matty :mrgreen:
