I am torn between choosing Wii and Xbox360 devices.

I have noticed that Xbox360 has tons of games whereas Wii has few selected games at Best Buy, Toys R Us, Target, and Walmart.

I am aware that Wii devices are sold out at any stores that fast unlike Xbox360 and PS3 devices. You can get Wii through Ebay and other sites though.

Any advices?

I have both PS3 and Wii, I originally planned on buying a Xbox 360. But that's not happening now.

Microsoft screwed it up big time. Literally every single Xbox 360 is defective due to a design flaw in the mainboard. Even though it may not happen to everyone, but the design flaw is still there. It could go out tomorrow or in a couple years. You know, if you go to the local retailers and ask them how often people return Xbox 360, you may be surprised.

It was even reported that the failure rate may be as high as 33% compared to 0.02% for PS3 and Wii is remarkably low too, probably under 1% which is acceptable. But 33%... definitely not.

It's costing Microsoft over a billion dollars in repairs. They knew about the flaw and yet they did nothing throughout the year. Yet people are still buying them... I guess they don't care about getting screwed over. That's their problem, not mine. I'm not going to make a bad investment. When I pay hundreds of dollars, I expect it to last a long time and that quality is the top priority. Microsoft is not known for quality control, never was and never will be.

Over the holidays, PS3 sales spiked. So clearly, PS3 is catching up. PS3 itself is an amazing multimedia/entertainment unit. I didn't like how they designed PS2, but they really nailed it with PS3. Well worth the money for what it offers.

If I were you, I would choose PS3. The reason why Xbox 360 has many games is because it has been out longer than the PS3. Give them time and you'll see a lot of games flowing in.

Exactly and it's pretty much Sony's policy to ensure that each console stay on the market for at least a decade. PS2 is still selling like hotcakes. PS2 has been around for 7 years and it has sold around 120 million units.

ring of death, it shows orange power light that looks like a ring which means it's broken. That issue is common with Xbox 360 users. Some of them have replaced it 5 to 6 times. Don't be surprised some of them had to sell it and get a PS3. ;)

It's the heatsink clamp design. All of the pressure holding down the heatsink is in one small point. On the centre of the X clamp, there is a plastic spacer button. It sits hard against the bottom of the mainboard. What happens is that it causes all of the stress to push upwards, which is towards the bottom centre of both GPU and the CPU. As a result, the corners of the mainboard flexes into the opposite direction. The only problem with that is the mainboard isn't screwed down properly in the area where the CPU and GPU are. What should be happening is to have the board flex downwards slightly due to the pressure in the middle pushing upwards.

So, when the console heats up, the solder balls will become soft. Then what will happen is the mainboard will be allowed to flex further resulting in cracking. So, there is too much tension for the corners of the CPU and GPU due to the poor design of the heatsink clamps.

i knew WII video games always out stock at stores and i never using that games before but i would love that games! and its lots of money!

Personally I'd get a 360. there are MANY deaf 360 gamers at DeafMadden.com , DeafGamersOnline.com. The PS3 has a few deaf gamers, but the network has a bad rep. Besides, the 360 is getting better with the Falcon chipsets and new heatsink trays, but you'd have to look up(google) how to identify if you are looking at a Falcon 360 in the store or not. The 360 also is guaranteed for 1 year.
Personally I want a Wii, but damn, I gotta write down all these numbers to make up a friends list or whatever it is with the Wii? NIntendo's kind of lame ducking it in that department.

I'd get a PS3, but the 360's too sweet right now. Halo3, Call of Duty 4, many many excellent games, and Rainbow Six Vegas 2 in March.

What really should influecne your decison is not schematics, system performance, etc, but what games you want to play. Each system has its exclusives.
Wii: Super Mario Galaxy, Nintendo Properties(zelda, Smash Bros Brawl etc) and.. No More Heroes
PS3: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, and the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 4/Metal Gear Solid Online (PS3 really doesn't have much of a library to boast at the moment)
360: Halo3, Call of Duty 4, Madden 08, Gears of War(still one of the most popular games on XBOX Live), and the best selection of the 3 consoles in terms of game variety.

Call of Duty 4 and Madden 08 are also on PS3, but popular choice seems to prefer he 360 version each time. I think COD4 on the 360 has better network, and the PS3 version of Madden 08 runs at 30 frames per second, while the 360 runs at 60, and again, the XBL network trumps Playstation network.

Again, I'd get a 360, meet a ton of deaf people here and at DGO, and never look back! Heh.

Hey Banjo, here's an interesting read I think you will enjoy, google 'X Clamp Fix", there are a couple ways (although illegal) to replace the X clamp, with parts from Lowe's or Home Depot. Amazing how some geeks figured out how to improve the 360, while highly paid 'professionals' at Microsoft can't seem to figure it out.

Google 'X Clamp Fix' for more on it. I might do it myself sometime, to prevent the 3 red lights of death permanently.

I can understand why that is a problem. However, Nintendo has a reputation of being a family-friendly company. As you know, they don't want the children to end up talking to the wrong sort of people. For instance, child molesters.

I know, I know... but still... I think it's a valid concern at Nintendo as a large number of their gamer base are minors. But there has to be a better way to do this rather than all these Wii Friend numbers.

Interesting, thanks for the link. Though I would have to point out that it's probably not illegal but instead, a violation of the agreements if you're a subscriber to the Xbox Live service.

Anyway, the warranty for Xbox 360 consoles were extended to 3 years, not just a year.

That stuff could void the warranty for the Xbox 360.

sBanjo, I am PS2 fanboy and never brought xbox/gamecube. I haven't brought PS3 yet because of two reasons: they are too pricey right now (400 dollars compared to 280 for xbox) and there isn't enough rpg games. I still play ps2 only for rpgs games.

Before I dont like MS Xbox like you mentioned about their issues with hardware, ring of death, etc... Then I found out many of my deaf friends switched from ps to xbox platform. I asked them about "issues" they told me it is not big deal. Of course I m not going to buy solely based on their word so I went out and research little more info about Xbox. I found out that MS have reissued and fixed their consoles to fix up the 'overheat' problems. Members from such as circuitycity or bestbuy, etc.. suggested that you check series # before you buy xbox 360 whereas they suggest to buy xbox model above 0737. I brought xbox model #0737 two months ago and has no problem since.

It boils down on what is your preference:

1. Xbox360 for superior online playing - achievement points (braggin rights), tons of awesome first person playing, and of course madden

2. Wii - legend of zelda, very fun and innovative motion sensor, and family themes games.

3. PS3 - the latest technology and best potential. Heavy hitters such as MSG, Final Fantasy, DMC, etc.. will come out soon.

Personally, I would say for now - go for xbox360 bec that s where so large deaf community are play right now. PS3 next year when heavy hitters are released and developers are able finally harassed the power of PS3. As for Wii, i personally am not into family themes games but it depends on person's preference really. You can't really go wrong with these systems as all of them are excellent consoles.

I'm with that except for few, just trying to right you.

For network via PS3, You means communicate to service (such as NAT), If it does then Xbox 360 has same thing, no difference for gamers who don't know how to fix the issue, it's actually from NAT that control the network via router, it's actually from router issue, that needed to configuration so properly, such as put PS3 in DMZ or open the port forwarding, also enable UPnP is just would help but not enough if you have double NAT then DCHP server need to be disabled if your modem has router feature built-in, that how cause an issue for PS3 or Xbox 360, at once when NAT was open via Xbox 360 after UPnP was enabled wouldn't show an right configuration, you would experience about unable to communicate the server. Other thing, if you have trouble to communicate the server after router was configuration so properly then it was from developer issue, that needed to be fix via patch update when they are rolling it on console, when you running the specific game that experienced with issue, no known when patch will come out but just like surprise you.

For Madden 08, run at 60 fps on Xbox 360 and run at 30 fps on Ps3, it's just from developers that don't focus so much on PS3, it supposed to be improve when Madden 09 is come out, PS3 has powerful graphic chipset (GeForce), that which is more powerful than Xbox 360's ATI chipset, according on news, Crysis won't run on both of them but developers are possibility that Crysis would be able to run on PS3, just like expected but I haven't notice if they will develop it or not.

COD 4 isn't exclusive to Xbox 360, found that you stated in your post, it was came out on multi-platform.

For Oddball, If you are causal gamer then Wii would be likely to be right choice for you but some Wii games can be hardcore like Zelda and Metroid, plus you would learn to use physical move, such as motion sensor. If you don't want demand on motion sensor then PS3 or Xbox 360 would be your right choice, PS3 has more features on hardware, such as blu-ray since Xbox 360 has other features like online, just mixed features on between 2 consoles. If you don't want buy MS crap then PS3 would be best choice, I was found out from ign and stated that Xbox 360 would possibility to be #3 in next year or couple, just don't know if would be happen and you can keep PS3 for length of time, maybe at least for decade, plus if you are really care about deaf gamers online then Xbox 360 is for you.

Interesting to read cons and pros between PS3 and Xbox360. I will inform my both sons about this.

My both sons own PS1 and PS2. They are thinking about sell them to ebay soon... This is their decision.

My younger son won Xbox at ebay for Xmas and love it. (He sold Game Box to ebay last year). Now they want to have Xbox360 and still trying at ebay but no luck yet until the thread here. I will inform my both sons about this and need to know what they think cons/pros between PS3 and Xbox360.
