I have a question...

A signer always fingerspells proper names, names of states/cities/towns, and the months of the year._
We do have some signs, its more like your home town signs like mine (St.Paul- Mpls, MN) "S-P" on left side of upper head and For MPLS - "P" on right side upper shoulder like wipe off with P..

Word signs that are fingerspelled are MALL, LEG, SIZE, REFUND, JEWELRY, HOBBY, LEFT, AIR, CORAL, EEL, OF, MAP, BUS, BY, AN.
There are some words have signs "Size, Refund, Jewelry, left, of, bus"
Size.. use "Y" on both hands - the thumb parts--meet together thats sign for Size.
Refund.. "same sign as *buy* but.. after use *buy* then use past tense sign".
Jewelry.. use sign as braclets or clip on your ears.
Left.. (which one?) as of leave.. just use same sign as "leave" or.. Left as of lefty hand.. use Left hand with fingerspell "L" move away from you"
of.. use.. "f" on both hands and join the thumb together
bus.. use "b" as of sign like car.. but use "B"..

Fingerspelled abreviations would be TTY (teletypewriter), TV (television), AC (air conditioner), APT (apartment), VEG (vegetable), FAX (facsimile), and GAS (gasoline).

There are signs for Veg, GAS...
Use "V" on your lower side of chin and wiggle it..
use thumb.. (like form of a) go in other hand (form of s)..
I hope it works..
Am i making clear to you guys (deafies or hearies).. hehe

Smile, I am influenced by the French deaf culture, they are much more expressive in signing, and hate fingerspelling. I guess this is true for me. Interesting to see how you sign for these words, MsGiglz. ;)

The sign I learn fro Vegetable is the V and you tap the cheek with 1 finger, then you turn the v the other way and tap the cheek with the other finger.....not far off from Annie's.

ahh you are right.. doh me! :)

One site I look at sometimes is from Michigan State University. They have a decent site, although, your local sign may be different than what is shown. Like the sign for Pizza is different than what I learned. Also, the sign for Vegetable is more what Annie use's than what I use.

I know many signs for pizza, it's really funny!!!
I teach two signs in my class, one which is shown on the website, and also closed hand, which is bent, (not claw fingers but fingers together), touching the mouth two times. This cracks me up because that sign in Germany means please, and I sometimes misunderstood the German deafies, when they said bitte but I thought they said pizza! LOL
