I sometimes take mine out when I'm just fed up of "hearing". Wow..i thought 2 weeks is pretty good (mine is about 2-2.5 weeks). considering ci's need to be replaced like all the time and instead of one batt its 3..and for bi-ci's 6 batteries!! yowza!

No, my older HAs use the same size batteries. So I guess the powerful HAs must absorb lots of power than my old HAs. My older ones usually last about 3 weeks.

:Ohno: That means I must have funeral every 2 weeks for Dead Batteries LMAO:laugh2:

Don't forget our battery sponsor here at Alldeaf.com you can get a trial package of same size batteries from different makes to see if different manufactures will make any difference in how long the battery lasts. In the past I gotten my batteries from Radio Shack since at the time they had the lowest prices better than supermarkets or even Walmart but I have not brought any batteries from Radio Shack in two years. I get some insurance benefit for my implant batteries and when the implant shuts down I can use those batteries in my hearing aids for a few days.

The trouble with implant batteries is that when the batteries go weak I get a five minute warning before the implant will shut down. The implant is designed to just turn off when the batteries voltage goes bellow a certain level to avoid issue with weak power causing havoc with your head. With one implant I have to deal with three old batteries and three fresh batteries. Sometimes the batteries start flying everywhere when I pull out the batteries out of the cage and I still can not find that one fresh battery that rolled under my car seat! When I go to concerts I will have a spare battery cage with fresh batteries standing by since I do not want to deal with six batteries in the dark with one implant when the batteries go. Still not a big deal with me. :wiggle::wiggle:

Thans for telling me about it.. I am going to check it out :ty:

:)

They are cheaper there, but they just keep moving them around in our WalMarts. One day they are at the Pharmacy, the next they are with contact solution. Even one day I found them on an end cap. Yuck!

And those blue seals - they stick to everythings!!!!

(Lol . We should come up with some kind of craft for using left over hearing aid batter stickers :). Maybe I should start using them to tab my books for important info. This would be a good thread starter...what things can you do with leftover hearing aid battery stickers? )

I wear my aide most of the time but I get frequent ear infections, that's when I will take mine off. Or at Chuck N Cheese's. Never wear it there...learned my lesson the first time :).

What happen at the Chuck N Cheese's?

I started wear hearing aids when I was 2. I was born profoundly deaf. I hide my H/A. My mom got me another new H/A. I stopped wear H/A when I was 10 years old. I decided to get back H/A on. VR bought it for me when I was 18. I always off on off on. It depend on my mood. I must wear them for work and home. I don't have problem with headache by H/A. By the way I didn't like my BTE's size. It's phonak. I want to get mini BTE. My doctor said, "You will not able to get mini BTE and you have to wear a strong BTE." I have 90% deaf. I am not satisfy with BTE size. What I can do? My fiance think I am worry too much about my look. LoL

Hey
What kind of hearing aid are you dealing with ? I sometimes have the problem to forget  :jaw:  to wear my BAHA hearing aid....

Always!! Too much noise, and too much work to filter noises out. The molds get itchy and moist. But i can't work without them and can't get different molds 'cuz they have to work with my stethoscope. I put them in at work and out before I walk out the door. Don't really wear them for much else 'cuz they SUCK!

If you're complain about earmold are bother you. If you could get a small earmold like ITC not full shell or half shell. You know what I mean? It will not bother you. It up to you. I ain't complain about my regular earmold. I just don't care. I like to hear. :)

Can I ask you a question? Do you believe that CIs make a deaf person not deaf anymore? We are still deaf when we take our CIs off for the night or at any time during the day. The way your post reads, its almost as if you think we've had an operation to become hearing people.

I am also trying to understand why you wear a hearing aid to hear but oppose CIs for the same purpose? That doesn't make sense to me. If you threw away your hearing aid then yes, your statement would make sense. I could easily say to you that because you wear a hearing aid, you don't accept who you are? What's the difference?

And this thread has nothing to do with CI... he's just trolling.. I guess.

Yes, thanks for bringing that to my attention. Apologies to the OP for encouraging the off topic.

Well the reason I am opposing to CI because this doesn't make a deaf person to become a perfect hearing person . A deaf person will always be a deaf person. I was born deaf and now I will be 50 years old and still wears HA. I do speak orally and sign languages. HA is more easier than CI because you can take your hearing aid off when you need to. CI can't. If you want to remove CI .. do you have to go back to a surgery to remove CI completely? I have met 2 CI people I know they told me they are not happy with it. But I am still friend with 2 CI people . I just don't want for me to have CI. I am me that 's who I am and I accepted it . I have no problem wearing my hearing aid for years. Each indivaual are different young and old how they feels themselves.

i don't have ci...but last time i checked people with ci's can remove them, the external processor is what allows someone with the ci to hear, without the processor u just got an electrode in ur head...So at the end of the day i take of my ha to go to bed or when i don't want to wear it, and someone with a ci takes their processor off to go to bed..same idea to me...or call me crazy?

Well, no one with a CI disagrees with that. :dunno:

I'm a CI wearer and I can assure you that you can take it off just like you can with a hearing aid :) I love the silence at nights and am not anxious to listen to my husband snoring :giggle: I also have a friend who never heard sounds before and then got a CI several years ago as an adult. The CI didn't work for him because his brain didn't know what to do with the sound, as he had never heard it before. So after a year, he stopped wearing the external processor. He doesn't have any regrets for having tried it and he doesn't need to have surgery to remove the internal implant.

I just don't want for me to have CI. I am me that 's who I am and I accepted it . I have no problem wearing my hearing aid for years. Each indivaual are different young and old how they feels themselves.

Yes, I agree that every individual is different. Me, it was too painful to wear hearing aids due to the damage inside my ear and they gave me terrible tinnitus and dizziness. Getting a CI overcame that problem. Please do not assume that just because we have a CI, we don't accept ourselves as deaf people. There are many reasons why someone might go for a CI - a hearing aid may not even be a choice for us. They work differently.

2 1/2 days??? For real?Is this the norm?
Thats a super short life span!

Two comments...

Er...there is a big difference in what a HA does and what a CI does. That explains the high power usage of a CI. It is like a little computer...chewing the batteries away quickly. In fact, you can't use HA batteries in a CI for long. You need to get batteries made for CIs.

The battery life for CIs is highly dependent on several factors. One being how long a user uses it during the day. Another being the "speed" of one's CI. That varies from person to person. It can be as low as 500/750 cycles per seconds to as high as 2400 cycles per second. That corresponds to getting over a week to 1 1/2 days power. Most people with CIs are in the 900 cps range. I'm one of the high end one at 1800 cps. So, I get three days per set of three. This is using a CI for about 16+ hours a day.
