Whoa!!! Where did you hear or learn that DC is not a STATE. It is a State, however, it is a very small state. District of Columbia is a State almost like Rhode Island. It counts because Washington, D.C. is what it suppose to be like in writing. So legally it is a state. :wiggle:

I'm sorry but I don't think that is correct. DC is just that....the District of Columbia and I think they get their operating budget from Congress (Federal).

Alright, I think that's enough of going off topic - but I can just blame it to authentic anyway.

Forget the NYC what about come to NH or Maine where is nice and quiet. I know a place that we can get together. Maybe stop by at Phillips' house and go for horseback riding. :D

I don't know what to say in the title, but it says it all.

My thoughts of my ideas is not really confirmed but it may happen in few years, possiblity summer 2009, winter 2009 OR sometime in 2010, not sure when.

I was thinking of taking a 3 week trip to the United States of America for the first time in more than a decade, I would like to see the states again since I visited there in 1999. But you all know, I have been a member here since 2006, and after many posts later - I am sure, you now know me a little bit.

I was wondering, if you guys would like to meet me in person, and learn a bit about my australian side, hmm? I think you all do. So the plan below is where I would MIGHT visit.

1. San Francisco
2. Portland, Oregon
3. Washington D.C
4. Somewhere in Florida (North / Central I think)
5. Los Angeles.
6. Sydney, Australia

The list above is actually in order. so I was wondering if you would holler here if you would love to meet me in person - perhaps organise a deaf event where I could meet a few 'deafies' and also, learn more ASL, of course!!

EDIT: If you are outside of the places where I might visit, it doesn't matter, just throw yourself in and I might consider to add it to the list and all

Note: This is some ideas to throw it in, it is not a plan right now, but might happen, if I could get time. Thank you for your patience. :)

Well.....if you been to America before, why do you want to come back? Anytime I visit a country, I don't go back as I "been there, done that." Time to go onto better places. :)

I suggest to maximize your budget by considering Amtrak train or the good ol' Greyhound bus. Granted it won't be glamorous riding on the bus since there is no showeres and such but you do get to see much of the country that way. Plus they do give you the option of getting off and checking out a city and wait for the next bus without penalty. I don't know if that service is still available or not.

Of course, you can "freak-n-die" on the Greyhound. :giggle:

I am not sure about New York...:hmm: Too big for me :P

Actually the city of Sydney is the same size as Manhattan. (Not Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, or Bronx. Just Manhattan)

Yes depending what time of the year that you will be in the Northwest, I'm sure I'm game to meet an Aussie.

LOL @ byrdie714 -- Well, I have a good reason to go back to the states, because I didn't meet enough deaf people back then, only met one - which was Brain Kelson. But I would like to meet MORE deaf people, including you AD'ers too. You get my drift, mate?

Cool, maybe I can see you in Portland, Oregon. There's a big gathering in Beaverton at Starbucks every month on second fridays...Deaf people from Portland/Vancouver would go gather there in Beaverton and we all chat away...lol...

That's cool that you're visiting America...I always wanted to visit Down Under...:)

Only once did I stay at starbucks until four in the morning was when I was with my friend Andria during my sophmore year. But most of the time, I would stay there until like one or two in the morning, then head on home or head over to friend's house.

You know, I almost moved to Down Under when I was in fourth grade but unfourtinally, my mother refused to move to different country, She wanted to be near by her parents house, even though Dad and I have voted against her. Dad has visited there and he said it's a nice place to go visit so I wanted to go...and the scene of Down Under is beauitful...So hopefully I'll go someday...lol

Or we can have an AD member overnight stay at a beach cottage on the Washington coast and have a beach bonfire.....if you catch my drift. :)

If you can give the accomdation free for me, I can reconsider that too!

I am in the DC/Baltimore area. :)

If u come on the first Friday of the month, perfect timing cuz DPHH will be hosted. :)

What about Texas? Dixie and others can come down to Texas and we'll all hang out? Plenty to see in Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston and in between.

Ive got friends in Dallas but Im not sure if they'll still be there in 2009 or 2010, but even then Im not sure if they want me crashing into their house like human cannonball. :D

We'll see about that, later on :D

Update:

the plan for myself, WILL be in the low season, as it is summer time down here, I have been thinking a lot since this thread has been created. I am going to Japan with my family this year, so perhaps, if I can get a holiday loan to head to the states for 3 or 4 weeks so I can go around the states -

1 - San Francisco - ANY ONE FROM SF?? Or anyone who lives nearby, if I know you from AD. (If there is none, I'll drop this out)

2. Portland, Oregon. There is plenty of people I know from AD that I'd like to meet! If you are from seattle, you may have to consider the trip to Oregon to make this occassion, cause I am not going anywhere near washington, sorry!

3. Washington D.C - It is my confirmed state which I would want to visit, I know there is plenty of Ad'ers I know, such as Shel90, Authentic, and Farewell65. I would like to visit the university again too. If there is a starbucks meet, at the time of my visit, organise that too!

4. As I mentioned, Florida, well - people I know from Florida will have to make the trip to Washington D.C or Texas. Cause I am considering Texas onto the list.

5. Will catch the home flight from LAX.

- - People from Ohio, which state is the nearest from that? I wonder...

If you are outisde of the list - you may have to consider to trip interstate if you want to meet!
