Tomorrow I am going to the Sorenson Open House. They are giving a tour of their facilities. That will be so cool, I am very excited. I can see about VRS jobs when I complete my interpreter classes, (2 years from now! LOL) and ask them how a hearing person can obtain a VP!!!

I went there before and pretend to be spy and stole their information. bwhahahahaha

nothing happen. really.

Southern , that's cool have fun checking out the place maybe you can find out if they are losing their business , did you see the thread here about that? (topic and section signlanguage) I think~
Have fun and wish you the best in your interpreter classes

Sorenson was interesting they have a Deaf Vice President that was good in my opinion since they service the Deaf. They work very hard to keep their interpreters healthy and happy which is great to know as well. Well at least that is what they said in the open house LOL. I asked about VP for hearing and they said no hearing have to use webcam only. I told a Deaf friend that last night and he said, “OUCH Burn!! Wow you are hearing that must really sting!!!” LOL I said, “yeah stupid being hearing!!!” LOL from what I have been told for the purpose of signing webcams pretty much suck. I hate that but we do what we do….. unless some one gets a VP 200 from Sorenson and doesn’t know what to do with there old dusty one. LOL =)

I don't even like Sorenson, because I've been on the waiting list for a year now, and I've just emailed them three times, and finally got a respond back stating this, We will review your application and contact you as soon as we are able to install your VP-100. However, due to the large amount of requests that we are receiving we are not always able to immediately install the videophones.

Again, we thank you for your patience!

I've been waiting for a year, and I'm out of patiences. :(

But, have fun, Southern. ;)

Aw sis  sorry to hear that.....

Have fun Southern....

That's cool they have a Deaf Vice President, that's a bummer no VP for hearing. I agree, the webcam stinks trying to communicate with the other person , it freezes a lot and slow motion :ugh3: Thanks for sharing !

^^Ahh...well that's good--hopefully you'll be set up with one real soon. ;)

--Now back to which this thread is concerned with....What was the most interesting facet of your tour there?

When they finally get around to installing Cheri's VP, it should be the 200 instead of the 100. Wow, getting a second generation VP for the first time is a LONG wait!

I just applied for Sorenson Video-phone today, so I shall see how long I hear something from them.

I suspect they check our backgrounds and stuff like that.

Cheri, I hope you get yours real soon.
