I am trying to find out what did these
weather experts say and/or predict about
the hurricanes in Florida ?!?!?

Do you think there will be many more
hurricanes hitting Florida for the
next ten years ?

Will these hurricanes decrease the
value of Florida real estate homes ?

I love Hurricanes!!!! I hope I see more....
And I love Earthquakes and Tornadoes...
I like to see mother nature working...
Wow!!!!

I know you're trying to be funny or bring humor about such disasters, yet, with this, each of us can be truly be in awe of such force of nature's storms to reckon with in this world...but surely, we all would like it much better if these sort of storms wouldn't exist or be so devastating, destroying properties, businesses, homes and even lives...disrupting families. Hoping that today's scientists, engineers, meterologists, etc., can find better ways for each of us to be able to be more readily prepared, finding ways that can possibly lessen the chances for these kind of storms to wreck havoc wherever it shows up.

Bottom line: I personally don't find humor in this nor could I find myself *rubbing my hands* in anticipation for these storms to come about. The majority of these storms have brought upon such devastations to many people over the years and will continue to do so. Bearing that in mind, please, let's refrain from wishing upon these kind of storms when many lives, families have been affected....

Thank you--

I know that it isn't funny and I am not being funny.

But if Stormchasers asked me to come alone, yes I would hop on and if I see these storm.... I want to do what those weathemen did, standing there... Watching debris and roof falling and flying...
Staring at death....
Of course I would be laughing and screaming at the same time.....

Why can't these people just move?
Why pay for expensive research for people who want to live next to the ocean...?

It is like putting your plate so close to the end edge of the table.... And you know that it will most likely to fall.

And Californians building their houses on top of hills... It is like putting ice cream on top of the spoon... You know it will slide right off.

Wow, that is really hard to say. Who can really know for sure how many hurricanes will hit, and exactly where they will hit. I know from experience that hurricanes can still make "last minute" changes in direction and strength.

Newly built homes that meet hurricane construction standards will probably go up in value and demand.

Houses right on the beaches will probably have outrageous insurance costs, if they can even get insurance.

I think people are more willing to rebuild in Florida than they are in New Orleans.

Just my opinion. :)

oh well.. it depend on weather if it come back again.. wait and see..

Well, meteorologists did say that there will be more hurricanes coming in next several years...but just how bad it will be, I have no idea.

Oh without doubt more hurricanes will strike Florida and that general area of the US. I worked for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for two years and while the work I did was more relevant to dobson data and ozonesondes, I remember Florida took blows from hurricanes all the time.

There was an article I briefly skimmed a month or so ago that argued that hurricanes will not significantly impact property valuation. Unfortunately, I didn't really look at it and can't summarize the article's reasoning.

Tangentially, did you know that along with Hurricane Katrina, there was a Cyclone Catarina in 2004 that also broke records? Catarina was an extremely rare category two cyclone that formed south in the Atlantic and ended up striking Brazil for $350 million dollars (2004 USD). What's astonishing about Catarina is that cyclones almost never form in the South Atlantic. Experts who study hurricanes have been noting an increase in South Atlantic storms fairly recently.

Here's what Wikipedia says on Catarina: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Catarina

Interesting... Geez I wish I'd work for NOAA ! I wonder which
parts/towns of Florida that have NEVER been hit by hurricanes ??
and
Which parts of Florida that mostly/oftenly hit by hurricanes ?

NOAA is awesome. They have gorgeous facilities. I miss working there, but I'm glad I left because I had my career change and wanted to move to something else.

I'm not sure which towns in Florida have escaped hurricane battery. Probably I would guess the more northern area away from the coast. Maybe Eyeth knows.

 You love hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes and other dangerous and destructive natural disasters?? That is really a crazy thing to say. It is obviously that you haven't seen or been in one before. I have experienced a category 5 hurricane and a 6.8 earthquake. These disasters happened while I was on a Caribbean island. These natural disasters were no fun and we have suffered a lot afterwards.

They can kill people and animals. Not everyone can afford to have insurances on their properties.

Would you like for us to cheer on the natural disasters while people are in fear and being killed?? That is a big :nono:
