Hurricane matthew

TCS just came back from Publix. He said it was crowded full and busy but most people were patient and friendly. However, one woman freaked out and was screaming for about 10 minutes until she left.

Gas lines are about 1-1.5 hours wait. Gas is about $2.08/gallon.

Don't let that stop you. Hurricanes aren't all that frequent. Every place has its problems (earthquakes, tornadoes, crime, blizzards, drought). At least you get a warning with hurricanes.

We're watching up here too but it looks like we may be on the edge of it... I couldn't tell as it didn't even have Charlotte on the hurricane path map.

Last I saw it's set to make landfall to SC/NC between Saturday morning and Sunday night.

And just as I posted- saw a blurb for news later about Hurricane Matthew tracking.

Just heard that it has a better chance of going out to sea (after it affects Reba) and won't affect the mid-Atlantic or New England. I hope they're right.

Stay safe. My husband's sister and relatives live in Georgia, NC, and Florida. They're getting prepared, too.

Trash pickup services have been cancelled this week because of storm preparations. Ugh!

I saw on the news this morning about the hurricane and all the lines at gas stations, people getting supplies etc...immediately thought of Reba and other AD'ers and others affected! Sending you safe and well thoughts!

Having seen photos of trash carts scattered around after storms that are not hurricanes I can understand why. I think the idea is to secure them like you would lawn furniture and similar items.

We'll do our best. :)

Reba, do you know that bald-headed middle aged guy with big glasses who was interpreting for your Governor at her press release update on the hurricane?

That was Reba in her Halloween costume. :giggle:

Our normal trash/recycling pickup day is Thursday. The storm isn't supposed to hit until Saturday. We don't leave our cans out after pickup. Now, our cans will be overflowing with trash for another week. It will be even worse if the storm does damage because we'll have even more trash with nowhere to put it.

Some other neighborhoods got their trash picked up today. They were the last ones. As of noon today the town offices closed, so no more services.

I saw him but I don't know him. I don't know any terps in Columbia now.

SC workers added extra porta-potties to the highway rest stops, and they're providing bottled water for evacuees. That's much better than closing the rest stops like they did during the evacuation for Hurricane Floyd.

FoxNews just showed the reversed lane traffic right outside my town. Only one-way traffic on all lanes now.

A friend of mine who is evacuating from here posted a video on her FB showing the traffic. It's bumper-to-bumper leading out of the area.

I just checked the weather for my city and now we have only a 10% chance of getting rain on Sunday, the store was busy when I went there today. When people hear the work 'storm' here they stock up on food . Some live on an island and there only 2 ways off it one by a road that flooded out during storms or by a boat .

I wouldn't be surprise if some people put their trash in other people trash or in businesses dumpster. That sinks having no trash pick up all week. Do you have a garage to you could leave the trash bags in if your trash cans are all filled up?
