How to cut the ringtone for the phone

I want to cut my favorite song into a ringtone. Does anyone know about this problem that can guide me? I tried to search online but did not know how to do, expect people to help me can do

I have not done this in a long time and i also unsure how to do it on Modern phones, It used to be as simple as cut the tune down to a 30 second clip and use an option to use as ringtone.
Not even sure if it is possible anymore. everyone seems to stick with the plain build in noises these days.
