I was aiming for Deloreans but They closed the factory. I was soo disappointed Oh well!! I remmy back in 1980's my dad had American Express catalog and it did included 24k Gold plated Deloean for $85,000 (now cost more).:naughty:

I was 17 after I bought (financed with dad as they would not allow a 17 year old sign for it) a 1977 Pontiac SE Trans Am - which is STILL my wheels! LOL I prefer manual for better acceleration.
 
start at 11 riding a 6 speed motorbike 5 years on i started driving car with manual, never owned an automatic
 
I learned how to do the manual transmission when I was 16 but that is something I haven't mastered at yet. The problem is, I tend to let it stall on me. Ugh! I just find it easier to drive with an automatic transmission. :D

we had Honda dirt bike when we were 12... it had clutch.. learned on that and was nothing to learning to use one on cars when we started driving... I was 19 when I started learning to fly too..
 
19 yrs old, and that ain't hard to learn. The first one was Ford Escort, then Volkswagen Jetta Diesel (not turbo). Both of my Jeeps got autos, I wish I had wrangler with manual. Couldnt find specific Wrangler with what I wanted everything, I ended up got the one close to exact what I wanted which is manual tranny. Oh well

Maybe next one, who knows.

My motorcycle is manual of course! Very rare there is automatics on motorcycles.

I WISH I WOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THAT! I used to have Snyder school as my territory when I was a copier tech. I would go there every week or more depending on calls I would get. All that time I was there, I never heard of anyone talking about it! I am gonna have to try to stop by there before I leave Lubbock.

I heard it was in Texas when I was in RIT. I read about it years ago, but forgot about it until it was mentioned here.

There was a local gas station that was offering a free Delorean to anyone who wins the lottery from that gas station. The car sat there for so long that it fell apart. :roll:
 
I have learned and relearned to drive stick but still couldn't really get the hang of it. Automatic for me always!

Why couldn't you get a hang of it? What mistakes do you always make?
 
I m 19 years old and I borrowed my college buddy s old 1965 VW Bug to drive. I remember that we won't start it someday then my few buddies pushed it before starting. I hated VW bug.
 
When car's battery is dead and you can't start with Automatic. You are stuck and you need someone for jumper.

Manual transmission don't need jumper. You can start engine by push.

really?? wow I didn't know that. I'll try that next time my when my car goes dead again. However - it's tough doing that with just 1 person unless it's downhill.

It all depends on gear ratio. My Mazda 323 was easy to start on dead battery... I simply push my car by the driver side and then jumped in quickly to shift 1st gear and snapped clutch. It starts rather quickly and it wasn't rolling fast tho.. (it was easiest car to start. I actually took just 4 steps and jumped in and hit gear and it starts on leveled road!!!)...

I remmy I used to have 1977 toyota corolla that always have problemic starter (I called it a Russian Roulett starter). I always have to park uphill. I shift reverse and let car roll back down and starts. It starts and I moved on. Sometime I asked someone to push my car to start LOL. My 1967 chevy pickup (with column shifter) was rather hard to start cuz of V8 and it was heavy to push(eeeaaarrrrggggghhh!!). I had to have someone push my truck to start or If I'm lucky enuf to find long hill, I let it roll down fast and snap clutch and my truck was dipping while starting :rofl:

ha ha ha Catty - ya crazy bastard! I'll remember to do that. Wish I did that on that day where I had to take my final exam. I almost missed it. I was stranded on Turnpike, waiting for service area guy to come to jump my battery. I have a feeling that my car is not going to be easy to start with this way but I guess I'll know when it happens.

I heard somewhere that Automatic tranny can start a car if it is rolling 40mph or faster by other car pushing on bumper. I've tried that one time by shifting to drive and have car push me above 40mph and it doesn't work (engine would not turns). Maybe works for antique cars, not current cars.

I think that is not a good idea for modern auto car. those damn computers, you know. I'm just glad that I'm still driving a car with minimal amount of computers. I don't need no damn trouble trying to turn on a radio for 5 min in those fancy car. knobs and buttons will do for me :cool2:

Yeah can't blame ya. If battery goes, car computer goes dead, car's dead and it's useless! Thankyou very much!! Maybe buy 10 of 9v batteries and hook it up in parallel on 12v battery to charge up car battery then roll and start... Old car can starts with dead battery and good alternator. I'm missing good Ol' day when life was simple!!
