I would prefer to keep such information private. this is info that shouldn't be shared publicly. I know that we know alot about celebrities and what they make, but the idea that we are ENTITLED to such information doesn't sit well with me.

Such information should be shared between the employer and employee only, or any other pertinent people like the tax guys. The rest of us don't need to know your business, and you don't need to know mine.

:)
 
I definitely earn more than SSI income. :D But thats all you need to know cuz its private info.

I do reveal my salary (If I had a job) but if my job says that I must not reveal my exact salary, I would give a "starting" salary as an example. Or a rough estimate.

I don't mind sharing that info with others, if they are looking for a job that pays well and is curious what my type of job could pay.

I'm not sure where the link is, but I believe there is a website that lists each career's starting pay...and I think the college's career resource center also has a book (I forgot the title) that does the same too. My college had that. That's a good place to research jobs and careers and their starting salaries.

But I do believe that it should be up to the person if she or he wants to reveal her or his salary.

I'm googling for that link.

For my major/career (Graphic Design):
The American Institute of Graphic Arts reported 2005 median annual total cash compensation for graphic designers according to level of responsibility. Entry-level designers earned a median salary of $32,000 in 2005, while staff-level graphic designers earned $42,500. Senior designers, who may supervise junior staff or have some decision-making authority that reflects their knowledge of graphic design, earned $56,000. Solo designers, who freelanced or worked under contract to another company, reported median earnings of $60,000. Design directors, the creative heads of design firms or in-house corporate design departments, earned $90,000. Graphic designers with ownership or partnership interests in a firm or who were principals of the firm in some other capacity earned $100,000.

I agreed with you Lucia...I did asked a friend of mine how much to start teaching...she told me about that amount. NOt EXCATLY. She have MA and I am sure she make good money to teach kids at RSD. But she's happy with her job though.

I wouldn't mind though.

As for benifits, it would help people find what they wanted/needed for her/himself and her/his family.

How can it be TMI if your going to discuss it with others... You can discuss it with others as long as you don't give out your full name and last name.. If you did then its TMI! I wouldn't mind discussing it if a person asked me but personally I don't have a job at the moment. So its not a problem if you tell someone about it... as long as you keep it simple... Don't give out your Social S.Number, Phone, Full and Last name.... Etc.... Its ONLY the amount of money you make and it's NUMBERS! so Tell me how can it be TMI!

$754.50 a week (gross pay) or $39,234 a year

When I first was hired, I earned $32K, but somehow, union approved the title for all of us counselors, so it upped to $38K. Then I recently got 3% pay raise, so my current earning is now $39,234. If I stay in PA for another year, I will get 5% pay raise on July of 2007.

I plan to move to NJ in 2-3 months, I will start to earn $41,212 a year. If I get a promotion, I will earn $46K.

I am on call, so not always exact $$$ each week. Every two weeks, from I normally get about $700 to $950.

I got paid about 16.45 per hour.

No benefit for me cuz my job is part time.

How many deaf people earn above sixty thousand a year, percentagewise? (Near mean peak earnings for college graduates with a four-year degree)

How many hearing people earn above sixty thousand a year, percentagewise?

Is there a significant difference in average earnings of deaf people above sixty thousand compared to the average earnings of hearing people above sixty thousand?

Factoring in as well as figuring the ratio it is compared to the numbers of hearings and the deaf--really couldn't measure up to that one, huh? But, although, I can see your point. As to your question, the number could be very well significantly smaller compared to their hearing counterparts.

(Note: Nor am I implying that they aren't capable of achieving such numbers either)

Oh, I agree with you 100% SxyPorkie! The reply above is my witty reply to people who ask.

I think it actually can be problematic to reveal your income, right? In essence you revealing your income in a lot of companies can get you fired because you are talking about the confidential negotiated salary between you and your employer.
 
Hi Reba,

I would reveal it this in public eye of people about my earn money, etc... I feel not right that tell this to public and even ex wife/ separated wives/ exe-girlfriends.

If I told friends or ex about my earn amount I make.. Deaf/ hearing would run to bug me to lend them for money... Or exes will find out how much amount i earn from work.. exes would run to court to file for child support to take some $$ from my amount... Or Never know, one who would robby person because he/she have more money..

That is dangerous for information share with them in public..

that why, it is very personal privacy infomations.. :)

Good thinking, Roadrunner! I think that looking at statistically significant variation in income at the 60k level and beyond would give us an insight into subtle discrimination in the workplace at higher-level jobs and how workforce america handles career-advancing deaf individuals. :)
