With respect to AD, I am not sure whether I can name my tour business here but wanted to reach out to the AD community and ask you a few questions to help improve our packages. We lead escorted adventure tours for the deaf and hard of hearing.

Our first question is how many people do you like to travel with on any kind of vacation? Are you a solo traveler? Plus 1? With family? With a group?

While our tours are done in ASL with a team of both hearing and deaf signers (to accommodate verbal situation so all deaf/hoh can enjoy total communication), what are some of the difficulties you experience while traveling?

Any kind of feedback will help.

i am british,i go on my own hope for the best as i back pack i find youg people helpful they surprised see old gal like me...sometime i take daughter with me...lately i been going with friend,it can be hard going in slavic countries...i understand f/s/l and go there within deaf community to france...in australia and newzealand often had youngsters who could sign who were working at hostel...i may have been lucky, when booking on net mostly i be asked if i had any special needs..
i would love to go on bird watching holiday that do more specialized holidays they not so easy to find,i sure same apply in states

Bird watching holiday???

That's an idea there. It's a very specific type of vacation/tour and we will have to research this in the future. Generally we use people who are general experts in the countries the packages are in. I am not sure how it would be done in ASL due to all the terminologies and specific bird name types. (ie. migration, blue finch, kingfisher, etc...)

Backpacking is certainly a popular activity. If there was a backpacking tour package, would this be something you would be interested? We have started doing some research into this type of activity because it appeals to adventurers and budget-minded travelers.

As always, feedback is appreciated from everyone. Gracias.

it not hard the teminologies..most people who go on holidays like that would already know terms, all would have books and binonculars.i would assume.i do and have very little need for terp... bridge(cards)holidays(yes i have seen them)would not need terps..the actual hobby or what ever, the person usually clued up..terp be more for recreational or alittle back up..lot deaf people together and birders dont need a great deal of help with their subject
