Are u sure the population stats are either from 1990 or 2000?

I only gave an estimate by factoring in China's population growth of perhaps 1%, give or take a few percentage points, a year then I made my estimate for the 2000's to account for this.

Remember it's hard to get an exact figure out of China.

Well, I am pretty certain that they are not "DEAF'.

Just hearing impaired because it varies, most people can still hear, but they do have a bit of hearing loss.

Plus, it's deaf, not Deaf because the majority of hearing impaired people are not culturally Deaf.

That was my first thought on this matter. I was going to say that last night but I had a bad case of brain fade before I could comment on it.

Not to mention various d/Deaf grouping (Oral, sign) that is notably absent in the statistics on the 1st post. It seems like they lumped all the groups in one without breaking it down in groups.

Hong Kong language...? I thought it's part of China and ppl in HK speaks chinese?....

Cantonese and Mandarin (together spoken by 80% of mainland population).
I went there in 1985 (Hong Kong, it used to belong to the British until the contract expiry) :tears:

Because back then, it had given many britons an opportunity to work in HK eg bank, army station and so on!! Its getting harder as it now belongs to China!

Well, I can tell you that some Indian families still prefer to have a son over a daughter and its a very sad reason why!!

Yes that is true becuz their son can inherit the land and pass on the family name. Some chinese couples had baby girl born instead of hoped for boy and they kill th girl and try again to have baby boy. Its sad that culture does not value the girls.
