Myself and John got together in May 2004, he proposed to me in Jan 2005 , and we're getting married in May 2007 on being together for 3 years.

I think really there is no time limit on when you get married after being with someone... I mean.. you'll know if that person is the right one for you.

I was in a 3 year relationship before and I never considered engagement with him...

So really.. doesn't matter what other people say or think.. do whatever ya want.. after all its your life!

hmm.. or is it??

*goes off to browse the other topics... and looks on as a duck waddles past me in my living room *

i never had experince to have a relationship for a year that why i never been in relationships more than a year

Where should I vote?

My hubby & I saw each other 13 times and wrote letters each other alot (that's time we don't have computer). He lived in Germany as I in England. We engaged at Boxing Day and married in 1985 in England. I moved to live in Germany after honeymoon in Paris in 1985.

We are happily married for over 20 years now. It will be 21st wedding anniversary this September.

I familiar with German atompshere and feel that I born in Germany because I live in Germany for a long time to know the familiar and languages.
Sorry for being off topic but I wonder :
Liebling, I thought you were german but you are neither german nor british.. since english isn't your native language... That's strange :dunno:

I´m Scottish and raised in London. You mentioned in your previous posts that you born in Europe. Which part of Europe you come from? How long you live in America?

I use German language all the time to neglect English language because I live in Germany for a long time. That´s why I use any English forums. ;) I guess I mix German language with English language when I made my posts here... :dunno:

I would say the same about your English, too. :)

It´s not just me and you but many Americans and Canadians as well who use English language differently.

I suggest you to wait a longer to get know this person whom u are dating with to give each other to know very well and trust each other longer before get married Myself i was married twice. First i was dumb enought to marry but blamed on his mother, Anyway for second married I dated him for almost 6 yrs before married and were married approx 10. but things were not working out ( I believe it had something to do with being verbal abusive and lost my first child) So right now I am dating but i am giving my dating to understand that I want to take my time not rush into anything. I am currently more happier with my dating whom i am seeking. Hes happier now than before since he was almost gave his ex gf proposed to be engage but his ex gf dumped him for someone else. Anyway Best thing to take time to get know each other.

My hubby (then boyfriend) and I dated 7 years before we got married. :)

:eek3: That's interesting .. I've never thought you were scottish.. and yes the scots speak English differently, scottish english, and I understand that german language has affected your mother tongue ... Germanish English ;)
I think Liebling means beloved one in English ..
Yes, English has many different dialects as in other languages...
BTW,Hey native speakers of English what about my english ?
To me, I live in an Eastern European country but I don't want to disclose my country because I don't want to be judged just because of my origin..
perhaps later.. I'm here without my ethinicity :) and you can see me at http://www.alldeaf.com/showpost.php?p=469502&postcount=974

I've never lived in America but I like American English much more than British English and British English sounds me strange .. I don't know why ? Perhaps, It's because the 'r' sound is always pronounced in my language as in General American English.. and Canadian English, GalaxyAngel speaks that accent.. Where are you GalaxyAngel ? Talk about your accent.. Sometimes I think that GalaxyAngel speaks French English :)

hi

Interesting all those. I'm telling now. I met my bf last July 2005 and been a friend until August 5 2005. I moved out of apartment and live in his home which become my new home. Then he asked me to marry Feb 3 2006. The marriage date is April 22, 2006. We have several reasons to marry sooner.

I married my high school sweetheart. We were Long Distance Relationship for 3 1/2 years. She lived 1 hour away from me, but we stuck with it and was faithful to each other through out highschool. Wife graduated in 92, I graduated in 93. We both got married in May of 94.

To this date, we have been together (date, married together) 16 years. Married for 12 years of 16 years.

A little advice for newlyweds:

There WILL be "dark days" (dark days mean what? argueing..argueing...)of your marriage. That is the ABSOLUTE test for both of you. You both MUST work it out and resolve to make it work. Too many people simply say "i dont want to try" or "i dont feel like making this work". I do not advise divorce. I believe divorce should only be used for serious situations like abuse, no permission affair (mean wife/husband not give permission for affair..some marriage have open marriages, so that is why i say that)...molestation...etc etc.
If you want to divorce just simply cuz you are tired of fighting...that is gross misconduct. Fighting...WHY? You need to find the ROOT of the problem, and find out WHY you are fighting. Is it you...is it me?? What I do to offend you? What do you do to offend others?? Etc etc. The #1 thing that I can not STRESS enough to both husband and wife is this: COMMUNICATION AND TRUST!!!!! You MUST have both of these! Both wife and husband have responsibility to communicate to each other and both wife and husband have responsibility to trust each other and OBEY THAT TRUST!! If you do not have BOTH...your marriage is OVER. You can not have 1 and not have the other. Yo must have BOTH.
You have to give 200% of committment to your marriage if you think you are headed for divorce. If you think you are..then your committement to trying to fix your prolems which means...mediator..counseling...seperation (with intent to sort through problems with meeting on neutral grounds). If all else fails and you KNOW that you HONESTLY tried..then divorce is the answer. The wife and I did not get through 16 years of always being happy...smell the roses everyday..no no..that is far from truth. Wife and I had dark days, but we are still together and we love each other more every day.

Anyways...to answer correctly to the OP...there should be no time limit for dating to marriage. It is totally up to the committment that you want to give/make. Some people married 2 months of dating....and they have HAPPY HAPPY LONG marriage. Some people wait 10 years dating same person...then married...bam...bad bad marriage. So, there is no REAL waiting period.

we'll I would rather to find α right guy or good man to kept and marriage at least 3 yrs aint good enough for me. I will want to get married in next 10 yrs relationship.

I know of a person who waited 10 years before getting married. It seems to be favored for everybody takes time to wait to get married (that if they are not pressed by an incoming pregnancy like some people I knew!)

My husband and I become partners in Oct (four months) after our engagment in July. We already dated for 6 months before we got engaged. We weren't pressed by any pregnancy. ;) Our peers thought we were nuts and kept asking me if I was pregnant. It was rude. :sure: But it does show you how our society believe in-- that true love doesn't exist. Everybody doesn't want to be with somebody for lifetime. Nobody wants to be tied down, et cetera.
Well. I guess it is just the generational thing-- many of us came from divorced /dysfunctional families so we are more hesistant to approach anotherperson from their dysfunctional family because we barely can handle ours! ... Just a guess.

We are now in our third year and we are still apaging at the fact that we still love each other! :giggle: Naw, we know it is for lifetime. we are just beginning to get comfortable with each other.
