This is the road to my grandson's work today:
What does he do that they would even be expected go to work in such conditions?
What does he do that they would even be expected go to work in such conditions?
Maybe he works at a hospital, fire station, EMT, restaurant, etc, etc.
He's an assistant manager of a county park that includes renting out buildings and pavilions for events. Apparently there was some kind of event booked for tonight, and the people were asked to cancel but they refused. (I don't know who wants to attend their event in this weather.) They threatened to sue if their event was cancelled. The building is in the woods. My grandson (usually alone) is responsible for the set-up, clean-up and lock-up of the building and the park. The group can stay until 11:30 p.m. to allow him to clean up and lock up.What does he do that they would even be expected go to work in such conditions?
. . .
@ Reba ,that looks more like a river than a road . Did your grandson get home from work yet? I saw on the news how bad the flooding is out there .

In the summer it is also a huge water park but not tonight.
He might not get home until after midnight.
The county is under a 6 p.m. curfew, so I'm hoping a sheriff will notice the group and tell them they have to leave. It would be the expense of fighting it but I don't think the county would lose if they forced a cancellation because of those kind of weather conditions!
As far as the water park is concerned it still is but a very different kind!
Still raining here. Our county is now under a state of emergency, and will have a curfew from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m.
I'm concerned about my younger grandson. He has to work tonight, possibly until midnight. I don't like the idea of him driving home in the rain and dark. He's using my Jeep Cherokee instead of his little car because at least it sits higher.

True that!

It's really, "true dat" but I was being easy on you.Where does the expression I added the bold to come from? What I grew up with is just as short = "That's true". So, "true that" feels backwards to me.
With the curfew you posted about earlier how are they even allowed to open for that event?

As a 19-year-old employee, my grandson doesn't have any say about this.If there is a 6 PM curfew the people couldn't had tried to sue , they're breaking a curfew and that can be a fine in some state. Can you call the sheriff and let him know about this ?
I live outside Charleston, SC.Reba, do you live in Charlestown or Charlotte? The images of the radar over the Carolianas is just frightening.

I talked to my daughter about that idea and she said all the deputies are probably too busy with all the other storm stuff happening to check on that.
He's already there, so I hope that they at least close the party early.
I don't know if you remember a thread of mine a couple years ago about a young boy who was bitten by a snake, almost died, and took months to slowly recover. Anyway, that happened at that same park, and whenever there are heavy rains, the snakes come out to high ground. I hope grandson doesn't run into one.
