How do you sign love and bird at the same time?

Anij, I think the OP is trying to create a reference from a popular song. Not the "lovebird" definition.
I don't know which one he is thinking of for sure..
But the one I thought of is the popular album by Madonna called Ray of Light, the title "Frozen".

Now there's no point in placing the blame
And you should know I'd suffer the same
If I lose you, my heart would be broken
Love is a bird, she needs to fly
Let all the hurt inside you die

:dunno: guess we'll need to see what he says.

Their story goes further back then the movies. :giggle:

Thy ends of the Crusader Beowulf hath becometh spoilt for thou, as I art familiar with thy story! :(

Wouldn't it be nice if posters would give more details?

Even in that song, the lyrics say, "love is a bird", not "love is like a bird", so it's not the same.

Difference between metaphor and simile.

Yep.

Love is a bird, she needs to fly

I'm admittedly not one of those people who likes to do (or has much experience doing) English song into ASL interpretations ... however I'd likely interpret it something like:

1) In a flowing manner...
LOVE + BECOME + BIRD (then directional "same-as" to show they are the same)

LOVE transitions into FLY (either like butterfly in flight, ILY fly or arms flying)

The only way I can see signing LOVE with on hand and BIRD with the other and having it work would be if the signs somehow physically came together and became the sign for FLY ... but even that would be very difficult to make clear enough for people to understand the intended meaning.

Hey! Sorry for the late response. This is for Madonna's song "Frozen" where i'm trying to gloss it.

My friend advised me to sign it that way...but we don't have webcams nor do we live in the same city...and she is having trouble explaining it to me.

The line is:

Love is a bird, she needs to fly.
