How come this doesn't even surprise me.

*sigh* I wish the parents open their mind bit and take both sides instead of one side...

It's really sad that many parents depend on professional because they think they are expert than anyone who experience in real life...

Well, I don't see anything wrong for some parents to seek or ask a perofessional to ask for help if they really need it. Sometimes a professional can do more for some people to help them sort things out. It not always a bad thing.

They might don't know where else to look to find information or sources, like this parent on the blogging, she could not find a deaf community even my parents did not know where to go for suggestions either, It takes time for those parents to find what they're looking for to give their child the needs that the child deserves to have. ;)

But, I gonna say this, those professionals needs to inform all parents all varies of communications that a parent can choose from or use them all, not limited communication. That's BS.

Good posting Cheri! I am glad the parents decided to learn sign language and refused to listen to the "professionals"totally. They were able to make such efforts to connect with the proper resources themselves.

On the other hand, isn't there something very wrong with the picture if the professionals are telling the parents that it is abuse by wanting to learn ASL?
