House hunting has begun !!!!

HOA is a joke.
They are, Just good ole common sense works. Where my cousins lived the farmers took turns grading the roads to their properties... everyone pitched in. Where my buddy lives, people got tired of the HOA as it was a BIG subdivision and the amount each homeowner paid nothing was getting done, the HOA said it was mostly maintaining the pool, so the homeowners said enough is enough and they all flat out refused to pay anything, the pool house is gone and the pool was filled in with dirt... and made into a playground that no one uses.

I hate the HOAs. I will hopefully never live with one. If it were a place with a lot of amenities, maybe. But otherwise, no.

I had issue with HOA before and they recently passed no parking on curb for more than 7 days and one of neighbor was victim of pit bull bite harassed and insulted at us, even she sued us in 2011 and settled for $150,000 in the court, however insurance paid all of it and we had to deal with premium spike by more than $3,000 per year as premium cost has been down slowly and hopefully vanished in 5-7 years.

Few neighbors harassed me for no reason, even we are improving inside our house and one of neighbor told us about what kind of renovation, so I told them - none of their business since HOA only cover on exterior, not interior so she told me that HOA cover both, so she went away after I threaten to call police on her.

I walked around the neighborhood as part of my exercise and one of neighbor drove and stopped by me, so I was like WTF at them and walked away as I can, so he went away. Those people have no idea about what is deafblind man walking around on road, even there is no sidewalk.

Our neighborhood was supposed to get swimming pool and playground as part of 2002 plan but cancelled in 2006 or 2007 after no one want to pay hefty HOA fee for both as some neighbors prefer private pool, even I prefer private pool too. If swimming pool is included so HOA fee will be $300 per month instead of $100 per year, however we got $300 surcharge per year for road improvement, that is temporary until all of our roads are permanently paved, even our city isn't going pay for that until first road is paved fully to meet the requirement, so city will take responsibility of road for repavement in the future.
