I usually check reviews of places that I'd go into. The higher the ratings after so many reviews.. I ended up satisfied and happy with their service. I stayed at Marriot several times and never had issues, other times I stayed at Best Western, no issues. It depends on how the management in hotel takes care of the place.
I've heard other stories that someone got sued and the company won which a poster had to pay $3000 for a bad review about their company. What they failed to notice the fine print the company posted, so before you post a review, better check the fine print first.
Here is few examples: Can You Be Sued If You Give A Bad Review On Yelp?
I think this is posted somewhere but here it is: Couple Fined $3,500 For Negative Review Fights Back With Lawsuit
Some hotels have a good reputation stretch, but if something is amiss, I do it the old fashioned way. I bring it up personally with management to resolve it.
Yeah, I saw the last link. The OP's link is interesting, too. If the clause in terms of use includes prohibition of giving a bad review even when it's a truth, it's not acceptable and I think it should be illegal. If a reviewer tells a lie or makes it up, I can see why they sue the reviewer (for defamation) and they must prove it. Yelp warns the reviewers about it and their reviews shall be honest and straightforward, no BS. That's what the customers want to read, right?I usually check reviews of places that I'd go into. Hehehehe... If I had my own business I'd love to fine people for bad reviews... that'd be great...
No places have perfect reviews... there is always positive and negative as not everyone is pleased with the service they receive and the conditions.
I had issue with Motel 6 one time and was checked in and got into the room... the room looked like there's a tornado mess inside. Beds were not made and the floor was a mess. I got back to the office and tried to speak to the manager which they said were out of town. They tried to get me in another room but I made them give me a refund and I was able to have a room in a different motel.
Some places are good, some bad... it depends on how management takes care of business.
If companies don't want bad reviews they should find ways to improve themselves rather than worrying about who said what and going after them. There will always be independent places, sites and word of mouth to propagate reviews- good and bad.
BUT if it's true and the hotel still fines the couple, that's not right. The hotel should file a lawsuit against the couple for defamation which requires the hotel to prove it instead of fining them.Yeah but the person in this story some of their jewelry was stolen and who know if that was true or not . If someone lied about that and hurt a company name they should be fines for this.
