Homework....

^Angel^'s post
Interesting ....

What I'm really asking is how long does it take your child to do their homework each nights?...Since every child needs to be in bed early during the school days...

Both of my sons get home from school at 4:15 pm, and my oldest gets home at 3....

LOL That's exactly what I do, when he comes home from school , let him have a snack before dinner gets ready at 6, he usually play games or watch cartoons on TV, I don't make him do his homework until after dinner, same goes for the others two, cause they need a break when they arrive home, unless they have a project that has to be due the next day, usually projects is given 2 weeks before it due, it's depends on what type of project, my little one has the package that send home on Monday which is homework sheets etc, then dues back on Thursday, but during the week, he has to know the words so he can learn how to read, he gets frustrated with them, even we pratice them everyday, he still doesn't remember those words even we just went over them before, and reading books to him each night for 20 mins that I don't have a problem with cause I can always do that when he is ready for bed, afterall he doesn't have to read them until he knows the words and be able to read the books....

My other two children seems fine with their homeworks sometimes they have more to do which makes them stay up past their bedtime, so I'm trying to get them to bed when it time, so if they have so much homework to do, I expect them to finish before it's time for bed....

I tried to picture myself what if my children come home from school by 4.15 pm and let sons to have their snack before get dinner ready by 6.00 pm. (I follow your post)...

Suggestion:

Discuss with your sons how they feel about their homeworks... which best time they want to have their homework done and remind them the time of their favorite TV... if they still want to see it then do their homework done bit before the dinner time began.

Subject about your youngest son... I take that your son is 6 years old... Correct?

Give him snack and be relax himself for 30 minutes and then prepare school work to spread on the table... Just let him if he willing to do his homework during snack time. Give you have a good look at your son's school work before you prepare something... If he learn how to write... Just give him one sheet where his teacher provided him to do his homework... Let him enjoy to practise to write like aaaaa bbbbb ccccc house house car car car ..... to copy your handwritting 30 minutes before dinner is ready...
After dinner time, enjoy with your son to do with homework... and read him.... Wash dishes can wait... Do with wash dishes after his bedtimes or leave it tomorrow morning (only if you are housewife).

High School: @ 845am - 3pm

Elementary School: @ 9am -3.30pm

Homework - about 6 hours per week altogether. They started it in Grade 3.

My 5 year old is still in pre-k with Deaf program.
She starts 8:00 am and finishes by 2:00 pm

The rest of the school will be out at 2:15. . Her teacher lets her class leave at 2:00 since its a bunch of 3 to 5 year olds in her class. She doesnt want them to feel overwhelmed with all the big kids walking all over the place when everybody's excused at 2:15. . .

Once in a while my daughter has homework to practice at home and teacher tells me what she needs to work on.

What I like with her is picture book with words. . She loves to fingerspell everything. So now working on connecting the fingerspelling to sign words. :)
