Hoh queer kid in okc

Hey!

I'm a Hard of Hearing kid in Oklahoma City trying to find more people to talk to. I'm the only Deaf person in my family and none of them sign so it can be kind of lonely. I've been learning ASL by myself for the most part and my signing is painfully English so if anyone wants to add me on Glide or Skype let me know!

Oooo!!!! Welcome!!! Check out Oklahoma School for the Deaf. Maybe you can at least go to Deaf Summer camp there...http://www.osd.k12.ok.us/schools.htm Do you have a Teacher of the Deaf? They could teach you ASL..... There's also http://www.gallaudet.edu/mssd.html in Washington DC, and here is a WHOLE lot of listings of Deaf summer camps: https://www.gallaudet.edu/clerc-cen...l-resources-and-directories/summer-camps.html All those resources can really help your exposure to ASL, and getting you to meet other dhh kids/teens. Pretty much all the resources are new signer friendly, so don't be afraid to take the plunge, and take advantage of all those schools and programs!

Unfortunately I am 23 years old so I don't think I qualify for any Deaf camps haha. I have a teacher but I can't go to her as often as I'd like because I have little money to spend even working a full time job haha. But I do practice every day and watch as much Deaf media as I possibly can to pay attention to sign order and take notes on loan signs used, etc.

Awwww! Too bad that you didn't pop up a few years ago!!! I checked to see if there was a Gally Regional Center near you, but there's not.....Maybe still contact OSD and see if there might be a community college in your city, with a dhh population. That might be a possibilty! Wish you were near me in MA! Are you on FB?
 
Hello im brittany im not deaf but im a single mommy with a son who is hoh and im looking for new mommy friends who know about this stuff i got to ent doctor in two weeks ive been an emotional wreak and really new to this
