HOA doesn't allow trucks to be parked on street.

I'm trying to understand interpretation of laws here. What is classified as a truck or not ?

How can this particular Ford be barred from parking there? I would assume that HOA is trying to get rid of working class folks. What happened to the good old days where everyone drove trucks?
 
HOA is a bitch to live with.

Mine says we aren't allowed to work on our cars on our driveways, we can't store stuff in our garages, and we can't park on the street overnight either, not just trucks, any cars!

Wow, that's a first!!! I had no idea someone would bar you from storing stuffs in garage. What would garage be used for then ? Does that mean a person would have to store their bicycles in house and not garage?

Those HOA by-laws don't make sense sometimes.

And a note to MangaReader, the HOA in the link is actually prohibiting the guy from parking his pickup in the driveway overnight, not just the street.

The whole thing makes me sick. People wanting things to look a certain way - I think Derek is right: they don't want working class people, or anyone whose home might start to *look* working class. gaaa.

Specifically it says we can't use our garages as storage. We can store stuff but not as 'storage'. I've seen people do it anyway. Rules get broken all the time. We aren't allowed to have satellite dishes on the roof and yet I see someone do it. I reported it and nothing happened.

That is an absurd law. How about buying a rusty 30 years old sedan and that would be more of an eyesore than a nice well kept 50 years old truck.

Not really a law, though. Just a HOA rule. Real estate developers create a corporation (that is the HOA) and people have to join in order to buy a house there.

Whatever you want to call it, it really makes me sick. Basically snobbery formed into a set of rules. At least in this case.
 
Even though HOA sucks, it does keep the neighborhood in order and increases it's value.

It's hard finding a neighborhood without HOA which is why I am in one. There is one neighborhood without HOA and you can see the huge difference when you drive into the area. Unkempt grass, weeds, junk around the homes and it looks shabby overall.
 
Oh wow, our HOA doesn't care about pickup, but park semi trucks against HOA rule.

HOA fine has no jurisdiction and you can try to fight with city council, also if HOA sues you so I don't think judge will follow ridiculous HOA rule.

Even without HOA, some cities could order you to take care of your neighborhood or they can fine you for code violation.
 
I refused buy and own any HOA properties, it is not worth the headache!

My house isn't HOA afflicted so no headache and I have awesome old and huge SUV, nobody in my neighbor has that size. LOL I sold my truck. My SUV is based on Superduty frame. Decided get that one so I can carry more passengers. I can take 8, could easily upgrade to 9 if I want to.
 
Our HOA doesn't allow overnight parking on the streets of any vehicles. No semi-trucks, campers, boats, RV's or trailers are allowed on anyone's property. No parking allowed on sidewalks or lawns. No untagged vehicles allowed on driveways.

However, homeowners know the rules when they buy their houses. If people don't like HOA's they buy houses in the unincorporated county areas.
 
If an HOA fines a resident and the resident doesn't pay up, the HOA can legally put a lien on the house.

I don't like all the rules of the HOA but I've lived in a subdivision that didn't have rules, and it quickly became junky looking, and property values dipped.

I don't turn anyone in for infractions.

HOA's can be inconsistent, which makes things confusing. One month we were awarded Yard of the Month and also got a letter for a landscaping infraction. :lol:

So your friends with that nice RV could't park on your driveway overnight?
 
The truck is not fancy enough looking for all the snotty people living there. . Some people have nothing better to do. It is a very nice looking truck and very study looking too. Idiotic people , they should be telling the kid was a good job he did working to buy his own truck instead of whining about how it looked in the driveway.

Brief visits are allowed, and owners can park boats and RV's on their driveways for weekend use or to prep them for trips. I've noticed some are on driveways for a few weeks, so I guess it's not always enforced.

It does seem overly strict until you see some of the other subdivisions that start looking like RV sales lots.

We need a happy medium.
