Would you stop and give a hitchhiker a lift home?
Me - no way!, last year my father and I travelling around Ireland, he stopped and give him a lift home and I could not believe it, when he said he did it few times in England too!!

I watched the TV it said its NOT WORTHY to take your life RISKY to give strangers a lift home.

NO Way, :nono: unless it's a child sure...

*ahh* That remind me long time ago when I was teenager and using hitchhiker... ((chuckles)) I wasn't aware about this until read the newspaper.. whoa.. decide to stop using hitchhiker..
I believe I might rooting for my kids' future.. Must teach them do not allow hitchhiker or else... Prefer ask me or friend can drive for you to go or pick up return home wha...ever..

I've never really given any hitchhiker a ride. I did give a couple people rides and they weren't exactly hitchhikers. They only needed a ride to the gas station cuz their car broke down. Heh!

Ehhh...appearance is everything - I think I would give a little old lady a ride but drive right past someone who looked like Andre the Giant.

But eh...I don't see too many hitchhikers around these parts...I do live in NYC, and people are learning to be a little more leery of unfamiliar folks.

Better safe than sorry, though...no one wants unnecessary trouble.

I disagree, never trust an old lady regardless of her appearance. :ugh: She might bore you to death and take your car away.

NO WAY!!!!!!!
I teach my children to beware of strangers..... NEVER do that....

I do everything is SAFETY!!!!

i may be that softheart to give some hitchhicker a ride.. but i never do that tho.. my mom did that once since i had rode with her...

even the parent -themselves, did given a ride when they told their own children not to talk to the strangers, how ironic is that?

I will NEVER allow any Hitchhiker in my car.. even if its a kid , weak man, strong man, old lady, old man.. NO one!

but if i notice the hitchhiker and i know that person well.. i don't mind :D

one of my co-worker give a hitchhiker a ride and all the sudden he took a knife and cut his hand and threaten him to get out and steal his car..

By all means, TAKE the car!!!!!!

No way I would never do that! It's too dangerous and I don't want to end up being killed or seriously injured. I would teach my children the same thing. The world is crazy and scary today!

we have ALOT of hitchhikers here on the island most of them lives on the red road, but for me to give them a ride no way joses ONLY the ones i do know and know they don't have a car or just happen to havr thier car break down then will i give them a ride to the gas station or to town thats it but for any towns like hilo or beyond i perfer not to cuz last time i gave them a ride to bring a car home and all it was a wasted trip SO therefore NO more long distance rides except for club meetings thats it! :)

It's illegal to hitchhike, and it's stupid to pick them up, no matter if they're young or old. If you pick up a child, you could later be charged w/ kidnapping. Even a child can hurt you too. There's a lot of JV Deliquents out there.

It's just plain stupidity to pick up anyone off the road.

The only way I would "pick up" anyone is if I truly know that individual (good friend).

I have never, ever picked up any hitchhiker, no matter what!
I heard a story one time, i forget what city it was..an old crippled man was walking along the highway and a couple stopped to pick him up cuz they felt sorry for him as he was walking with a cane..well, when they opened the car door, a couple of guys jumped out of the woods and got in and forced them out of thier car (hijacking i guess) and took off along with the old man!! I think they used the old man as a decoy !! this couple were very lucky as they could have been killed! *shudders*........

NO way i would NEVER give someone a Hitchhiker. I really don't Turst anyone who i don't know

I have never picked hitchhikers up, but when I was living in Loudon County, Tenn., I have picked some people up that I knew but they weren’t really hitchhiking for rides, they just walked so I just took them where they need to get to Loudon (city), Le Noir City, or Farragut/western Knox county, all in Tennessee.

Since settling down in Atlanta’s northern suburbs almost ten years ago, I have only picked one up, since the black man was one of my stepfather’s employees. He wasn’t hitchhiking, just walking along the busy roadway in a small Rome, Ga., suburb. I stopped by because I thought he needed to get to work, that wasn’t so - I took him to his residence because his car broke down. I had to call and let my mother to know I had picked one of my stepfather’s employees so that way he wouldn’t be upset with me for doing that.

Well, there were time when I had to hitchhike home so don't knock it people.

No way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have seen it near my home. I just drive by it and my son goes what is he doing?? I said trying to get a ride and it dangerous so I explained to him more deeply.

One time, my mom's car couldnt start and I didnt know where she went. So I was on my way to work and saw my mom was walking and stucking her thumb out for a ride. I was so pissed  . So I gave her a ride to work and told her dont ever do that again. She knows I was mad.

I've hitched all over New Zealand in the early days before I got 'wheels'. NZ is a place where hitching is popular. Once in a while there is always a 'horror' story relating to hitching....

For me... the risk of picking up a hitcher is no greater than the risk of idiot drivers on the road...

On an odd occassion I may have a 'joint or 2 with the hitcher'. I've picked up a few American 'Stoners' hitching around the country... they love our weed!
