Whoa, Alex ! *Chucklin'* If, you are plannin' on doin' this.... then, AD members' experiences, knowledges, skills and talents cost them their lives. That's like you are their "author" by tellin' their stories through their experiences and all that. Are you goin' to pay some small percent to AD members for tellin' their experiences and everything that they shared their posts in AD threads ? Your AD website is like writin' stories just like books.
I hope that it don't betray AD members for feelin' that it is not fair if, you receive your own profit.
I better let the AD members decide for themselves and see, what is right for them..... :)
I never made a profit out of AllDeaf and I never will. If you only knew how much I have invested into this site so far, then you'll understand. My thought was that if I were to to sell this site, it would be nice to have all of my expenses paid back. That's what I meant by the price being right.

I don't see why my members would feel betrayed if this ever happened. This forum was always free and always will be as long as I own it, and I hope that if this site was ever sold, that this "lucky winner" will keep it that way, too.

The donations made in the past by members were put back into AllDeaf for software and server upgrades, contests, tips for moderators, etc. Advertisements helped cover some costs, but most of the times I have to pay out of my pocket. And I don't ask my members for a small percentage each, otherwise AllDeaf wouldn't be the way it is now.

G'night. :)

1) Where does the ** vs. AD hatin' originate from?
2) How did the Alex and e thing come about? Did that come from AD? ;)
3) What companies has AD worked with or affiliated with, historically?

We do not discuss issues about other forums in here.

Hmm... good question. You'll have to let Alex answer that question. :)

It's all in the banner on top. So far, I think it's PrePaidLegal & HearMore. There might be more, of course... Alex may have to answer this question as well. :thumb:

When did AD have the most active members at any certain time?

Is there a server tech for AD?

How many forums did AD started out with?

If there is something Alex would like to do for AD, what would it be?

How many moderators have worked the boards since the first days of AD?

The most users online was 94 on June 16, 2004. Go to the index page and scroll down to where it says "What's Going On?" You'll see "Most users ever online was..." That's your answer! :thumb:

What do you mean by that? Are you referring to a technician that checks on the server from time to time? If that's the question, the answer would probably have to be "no". Alex runs the server all on his own.

Are you referring to all of those categories on the index page? If so, we had under 25 topics... I think 20?

*looks at Alex*

Hmm... including Alex and I, there's probably been about 18 to 20 moderators.

Thanks! You've answered my queries in regards to the history of AD...'cept just waiting for an answer from Alex himself....

As for the 'server tech' question...I was referring to someone, i.e.; a server tech that runs and maintains the server for AD...as I can see that Alex does it himself...there are other sites where there is a person that is solely respondsible for running and maintaining the server....

P.S.
Keep up with the good work Vamp! :thumb:

Yes, Alex does it all by himself! He's the supreme being of AllDeaf! He rules over all of us! He is God! *evil cackling*

1) I'd prefer not to discuss it here, but if you have to know, you can always PM me.
2) I met E and her friends at this AD get-together on New Year's Eve. A few weeks later, we started seeing each other again. Next thing we know, we're rolling together. ;)
3) To name some, they were Hear-More, Harris Communications, Pre-Paid Legal, Winfree PCs, Garth Mobile, Blast Data, American Deaf Exposition.

1) 94 active members were browsing AD on 6/12/2004. Most of those guests were probably search engine spiders, though. :)
2) Not currently, no. When I first got my unmanaged dedicated server a while back, I hired a sys admin to take care of the security setup. From there on, I had to manage all aspects of my server on my own, and whenever I didn't know how to do certain things, I would go around and ask. It was a learning experience, and I still learn new things all the time.
3) AD pretty much started with the same amount of forums we have now.
4) I thought of making AD kind of a news source and community for the deaf and hard of hearing, sort of like Hearing Exchange but more entertaining. However, no plan for AD has been finalized yet. I guess we'll see when the time comes.
5) I would say 15 or less members had the chance to moderate AD in the past. Vampyrox was the first few moderators I personally selected, and he is the oldest and most dedicated AD moderator that I know of. :thumb:

Thanks for the informative reply Alex...

94 does seem quite a few on any given day, but overall, that's great even if a few of those numbers applies to search engines....

I kinda figure you did have outside help with the server...although, it's in relation to a security format...as far as the learning process goes, you've done quite superbly well keeping AllDeaf maintained and running smoothly! Everyday is a learning experience and you've shown great strides--some which are visible to us AD'ers and other items or circumstances that we aren't aware of...whether it's little or big, which you obviously have gained valuable learning experiences from during the days and years of AllDeaf....

AllDeaf is a great place to turn to for useful resources and news especially pertaining to deaf/hoh issues and realistic aspects which at the same time entertains in various ways each of us can be pleasantly amused or delighted by the posts across the forums....

It's interesting to know several ppls. have had the opportunity to moderate AllDeaf, I sure agree by the assumption you have made in regards to Vampyrox for which he is definitely dedicated with moderating AllDeaf!

Keep up with the great acheivements you have accomplished for AllDeaf and we'll stick around by posting away as this Forum reaches out and bring all of us together as an online community! :thumb:
