A Pennsylvania history buff who recreates firearms from old wars accidentally fired a 2-pound cannonball through the wall of his neighbor's home. William Maser, 54, fired a cannonball Wednesday evening outside his home in Georges Township that ricocheted and hit a house 400 yards away. The cannonball, about two inches in diameter, smashed through a window and a wall before landing in a closet. Authorities said nobody was hurt.

State police charged Maser with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

oh man! he seems like want to have that fun but stupid! use common sense! rme! lol oh man!

It is nice to be passionate about something, but not that passionate. :P

I don't know if it was accidental because with the cannonball you have to lit the wick to start firing the cannonball. I don't know what year of the old cannonball back in the old days in history like Civil Wars or World War II. I think he was just trying to figure out if that would work but he was not thinking rationally or having a common sense to know better than firing the dangerous cannonball in his neighborhood. He was not out in an abandon field or meadow so that he can test it to see what the cannonball can do. I am glad that the police have charge him for endangering his neighborhood.

You really do have to wonder why he was firing it in a neighborhood of homes.

Not all American Civil War cannons have wicks.

Either way, it should had not been loaded in the first place.

i agree with ya.. using the grey matter (common sense) is an obvious requirement considering that firearms of the old world is usually monsterous, its really strange that he actually did it in the suburb!!

souggy, i didnt realise even that! about 'not all have wicks' what then just ramed in gunpowder, and lighting with a staff (torch)...wow...
also I wonder if he was actually MAKING gunpowder the OLD way.... with no modern explosive chemical enchancement added or whatever the hell is, different process of making...

actually, im not *shocked* i kind of find it a little hilirious...like good on him for pursuing something different, but with ridiculous amount of irresponsibility to fail asking for assistence to take thie experiment elsewhere safe lead to making the wrong decision.
